mother the greatest

after being a mom, then i realised that why there is a says about mother is the greatest..

i guess all jobs u can says give up.. but the job of mother is something that u can never quit once u becme one. can never give up. no matter how tired u are, how cranky ur kid is, how naughty they are, as a mom, u have to do ur job to take care of them..

i'm very tired.. lack of sleep, time has all given to janelle, other than take care of her, still need to  pump breastmilk in the middle of night just to bottle feed her in the morning (afraid she will reject bottle). worry about her brought up, worry about her mentally and physical growth. after i started work.. my sleep time is 5hr everyday...

wean off Janelle bad habits (part 3)

Day 1: Janelle manage to fall asleep on her own after abt 15 min of cries. took janelle out for ah ma birthday dinner, so she got no choice but to fall asleep without yaoyao in the night. When we reached home, it was about 11pm, i changed her when she is drowsy.. guess she is just too tired, so no crying, once down she also knock it down in the night.

Day 2: was very bad, she screamed and shouted till she lost her voice. but still able to fall asleep after the cries

Day 3: ok for morning nap. in the afternoon i need to go out for a few hours, so i get my mil to take care of janelle. it was alright in the late morning nap.. she managed to catch a 1.5hrs of sleep... but the late afternoon nap was very bad, she screamed and shouted, i was in the room pumping... my mil cannot tahan and keep saying "i dont know how to take care of you without sarong, i dont know how to take care of you without sarong".. haiz..  ask me to use sarong.. i ignore and let her scream... but after 15 min, she still screaming and cry till she likes having breathing difficulty.. i throw in the flag, and put her to yao yao... immediately into the yao yao.. she fall asleep... the same thing happened to at my mama's place... 

I give up... sleep yao yao... sleep yao yao lo.. no choice.. i have allowed it to start, very cruel to stop her now... now, just dont need to plan to bring her out... haiz. i'm useless man.

noone supported my idea to wean off her from yao yao... kogan was there up to you la.. my mil and mama says let her sleep yao yao la.. my aunt says this weather, sleep yao yao better... started alr dont be cruel to take it away from her... am i that cruel?? i also heart pain to see her cry.. but it is about her own good.. if she can fall alseep by herself, wouldnt it be more easy for everyone?? anyway.. i give up... will try to reduce the usage lo. now hoping that she would refuse to sleep in yao yao soon...

Wean off Janelle bad habits (part 2)

tomorrow starts my xmas break for 2 weeks. target: wean off sarong from janelle.

i told my mil yesterday night that i dont want janelle to sleep in sarong anymore.. i want to wean it off.. my method is to let her cry.. leave her alone.. so dont come and interfered my trianing.

my plan is to keep the sarong away... die die also must let her fall asleep on bed. actually, i afraid i will give in to her seeing her screaming n shouting... i tried out yesterday night, poor thing.. she cried till like noone child. but for her own good n her mummy sleep, i have to do it.

this morning my mil says she dont want to see her cry, she went over to bil's place early in the morning. :)

Flipped

Yesterday my girl flipped for the first time. it happened at my mummy's place, during her tummy time. I flipped her over for tummy time and she just kicked and turned over to her back. me and her cousin sister saw it and was so happy and clipping our hands for joy... mei mei very cute, she turned to janelle says: "baby li hai lo... again".. :) 

finally a milestone janelle had reached. had been waiting for this to happen for 1 month. 

Month 4 Week 1

last night, during my pumping session, was reading msapple's blog, her girl flipped in the middle of night one day. the first thing that come to my mind is that is very dangerous. if there is a pillow then the baby might suffocated. i went online n search, then realised that baby below 2 years old dont need a pillow. no good for their neck development and might cot death. omg.. i had been letting janelle sleeping on her granny made pillow since 1 month old. i faster removed it.

omg.. how can i be so careless n listen to my mil. seeing my mil taking care of bb, she had used all the wrong methods. baby cries give milk, if baby dont drink, wasted. baby awake, she carry her, bring her out walk walk... during the weekend, i have to spent time to correct janelle.. weekday mil mess up again.. how? is infant care better?

after seeing Janelle's hair, the "gu gu road" was so obvious, so decided to give her a botak n let the hair grow more equally. i know cny is coming, by then the hair will not be out, but one yr ugly never mind la :)

after the morning nap, daddy n mummy brought janelle to her gugu salon for hair cut. hmmm.. she didnt cry, but just screaming her way out.. haaa cos gugu got to hold her head to prevent any injury. 

after hair cut, brought her back to my mom's house... ah ma brought her a new dress, mummy says 4 month has to wear new dress. after milk, bath... we had a ceremony for her open up her taste bud to meat n veg.

ah ma went to the wet market to get for chicken tongue but noone willing to sell just the tongue. so in order to get the tongue, we get one whole steam chicken from pinsi (old mother's tale: chicken tongue will able her to be good in talking in future..) ah ma also boilded veg, mushroom, chicken, pork, dry prawn. and also string up 12 biscuits (mali biscuits) to collect her saliva n all silbings will take one (old mother's tales: will sayang janelle)

Janelle Passport

Janelle now has her passport. Both daddy and mommy took leave to bring baby janelle to ICA for collecting of passport. 

Due to the photo submitted was not approved, we have to retake the photo. We took her to ICA to take her her passport photo which definitely approve. Once i reached ICA, i went to level 2 the photo booth, and ask the maid to Q for me while i went to take the Q number for collection of passport. during the photo taking session, the cashier carried janelle in baby chair while the photographer standing behind the camera playing with her..  she started up crying, but after warm up, she is alright and can chat with them.. haaa... but while waiting for collecting passport she start to cranky cos time to sleep. the officer asked where the baby and kogan replied the one the loudest behind is her. faint. and still have to wait for one hour before the passport is ready for collection... me cannot take tahan so asked kogan to bring us back and come later to collect the passport.

No idea how to bring janelle out myself. ai yooo..

During all my years of working with babies I have found this to be very accurate especially if it is clearly a single or double crease. The prediction with combined creases is a fifty-fifty chance.

wean off janelle bad habits

janelle have too many bad habits. during my xmas 2 weeks break, i want to wean off first 2 bad habit.

 

1. daytime sarong

[why] daytime sarong, night time bed ended up she had a better sleep in the day then night.. night sleep is disturbed. no right.

2. pacifier

[why] will affect her teeth growth.. she is coming to 6 mth soon, in other 2 more months.

but HOW??

Week 16

At ah ma's house:

Postnatal Hair Loss

now i suffering from postnatal hair loss.. everytime after bath, combing my hair, mopping the floor.. i see the amount of hair on the floor.. omg.. is alot lo. at this speed of hair falling, i guess i'm going to be botak soon.

went to do a search online... and this is what i found:

• Postnatal hair loss is very common and almost always grows back to it's normal state (one might get a few extra grey hairs though!)... [Yvonne] no choice but have to face
• The usual reason for postnatal hair loss is 'hormonal change'. 
• Hair loss occurs from the sixth week to the thirtieth week after childbirth." [Yvonne] now, janelle is in her week 16, and i have another 14 weeks to go.. omg.. i really going to be botak
  
• These hot-spots are located: A.. the front hairline. B.. behind the ears. C.. top of the head. D.. temples. So, the hair loss can be in patches. [Yvonne] eee.. so ugly.. 
  

Cute Cute

Yesterday kogan returned from shanghai to spent a long weekend with us in singapore. SIL and BIL dropped by to have dinner at our place in the night at about 9+ when janelle usually is asleep. But yesterday she took a short night nap at abt 8.30pm and wake up at 9.30pm to play with her aunties and uncles. After 10pm feed, she still refused to sleep. I bring her into the room and clear her up again (cos too many kisses from them) and she still wide awake. I just leave her in the center of the bed in btw kogan and myself, watching her play. she turned to the right, seeing daddy and turn to the left seeing mummy, and she laughted. :) yes is kind of cute and sweet, she played till 11.30pm and fall asleep. and as usual, she woke up at 4am for milk and refused to sleep after that till 7am.. hmm.. dont know where her energy came from.. in day?? is she has been sleeping alot in the day??

Janelle starts to know where her hand and fingers.. she starts putting her hand (yes hand, not thumb) to her mouth and suck till got chu chu chu sound... hmm.. i tried to stop her and give her pacifier instead... she will push the pacifier away and put her hand to the mouth. my idea is not to let her get used to sucking her hand or finger as ppl tends to like touching bb hands when they play with bb. I have asked my helper to clean her hand more often and especially after someone touches her hand. errr.. yes, i know, i'm a kaisu mama, but no choice, cos dont know what virus is out there.

tml is sat, going back to my mama place.. :) looking forward to it. cos when i see joelle plays with janelle, is kind of sweet. ops, didnt post this story last week :0 last week when we are at mama's place, joelle plays with janelle... janelle laughed out very loud.. and guess what is joelle reaction.. heee.. joelle was jumping with joy and said "very cute.. baby very cute leh... again".. haaa.. me and my sis was there laughing at her.. telling a baby to laugh again. :)

a long weekend is coming... thinking to bring janelle out to east coast to have a walk.. not sure if i can cope anot.. will talk to kogan abt this.. will update again. :)

wasting of milk

omg... today opened 3rd tin of Formula milk.

But Janelle had not been drinking much formula milk. Usally at 10-10.30pm, i will make a 120ml FM to give janelle a last feed no matter when is her last feed and no matter whether if she is awake. usually she will takes about 60 to 90ml. the rest will go into waste.

When we going out, my maid likes to prepare 3 * 4 scope of milk powder, no matter if it is a short trip or long trip.. she says granny asked her to do so. and milk powder, once transferred into container, by end of the day, didnt used it. I will discarded. another go into waste.

Janelle voice is back

after a week, janelle voice is back. i think is because she screamed and shouted for too long n too loud. great to see her alright. :)

today my mil asked me n janelle to accompany her to gugu's grandchild full month celebration. ai yo, i have a cranky bb, once she reached there, she cried for sleep. She was like announcing her arrival.. loud and clear.. pianz. lucky managed to put to sleep after a while n have my lunch. she woke up n play with me n her 2nd bro for a while after lunch. when we heading back, her cranky-ness starts again. she cried for 15 min... i see my mil cannot tahan n she dont know what to do. haiz. my mil gave her milk she dont want, pacifier also dont want, water also dont want. once reached carpark, mil reached home n put her into sarong... but is time for milk. haiz. i pick her up from sarong n give her a feed n put her to bed. guess my mil has no choice and let me handle her.

During the lunch, i looked around, there are a few babies.. omg.. they are so good... they wake up and play, fall asleep on their own when they are tired.. noone are like my cranky girl. I really dont know how to bring her out on my own.

Renewing of Wedding Vows

Yesterday when i'm driving to work, suddenly this super mummy came to my mind. there is this mummy who org a dinner to gather all their guests to renew their wedding vows with them on their 5th wedding ann. I think this is kind of cute and sweet.

then this strike me... if all jan 2007 couples (in the SGBrides) get together to renew our wedding vows, it will be more interesting. haaa... as we worked together for our wedding and supported each other thru our big day preparation in 2007.

If there is such a day, all couples might be bringing along all their kids... heee.. might be quite a mess.. haaa.. instead of romantic.

a day after work

After a long day at work, i would wish to spent time with my janelle.

So what i usually do is to bring her into our room... I will sponge clean my girl, once after sponge clean she would want to take a short nap while i quickly so and take my shower and dinner. when she woke up, i will talk to her, read her story and tummy time. by 9.45pm will put her in sarong to make her sleepy by 10pm, no matter she fall asleep anot, i will pull her out of sarong and gave her the last feed and put her on the bed.



yesterday tummy time is cute, i turned her over and she strugged for a while to get her comfortable position and refused to move anymore... sucking her hand comfortablely for 5 min. as usual her nei nei will come into our room to "recuse" her from tummy time. my mil always says she is not comfortable in such position or she will says she like it and carry janelle out of the room or away from me.

and yesterday i told her
me: this is one of the way to train her back and neck muscle.
mil: i always carry her upright, she like sitting on my tummy.. and in this way she also can trainned her muscle.
me: she is resting on u... not trainning
mil: see, her neck is also stable now

dont wish to argue with her.... so i keep quiet. guess in future, i will just need to lock the door up.

Janelle is sick again..

Sob sob sob :( Janelle is sick again. I though baby on breastfeeding will be fit and not fall sick so easily.

Sunday after janelle's afternoon nap, she lost her voice. Now she is in her hoarse voice.. i'm so worried and insist to bring her to PD in monday morning instead GP. haiz, that stupid PD cant diagnose out anything.. just say is normal.. how can it be normal and i questioned the PD?? she says throat is ok, no infection, lung is ok.. she cant think of anything that causes it to happen. Then she gave me a referral letter to spec, and she wrote there her diagnose is normal but worried mother insist to seek for spec advice. kns, why dont she says she useless and dont spot any problem. I spent so much money for her consultation and leave me suspend in the air like that. still worring for my girl.. haiz

Motherhood to me is the scariest, hardest, most stress filled and wonderful thing I have ever done.

Back to work

Return back to work...

Had returned to work since 7th Nov but requested to work from home from 7th Nov till 14th Nov, as my mil went to TW for holiday. Yes, she choose to go holiday when she knows that i returning back to work.

In office, need to pump for my girl next day supply.
My girl need at most 4 to 5 feeds in the day when i'm at work.

My girl drinking pattern:
7am - if she is able to wake up at 7am, then i will latch.
10am
1pm
4pm
7pm - if am able to reach home by 7pm, then i will latch.
10pm - formula
4am - latch (hoping she will cut this feed).

So my pumping schedule will be
11am - in office
4pm - in office
10pm - at home

usually 3 pump is enough for 4 feed. if not, then i will pump after janelle 4am feed. so far so good but tiring. hopefully work stress dont reduce the flow.

Am a bad mom?

Just now when i'm feeding my girl last fed of the day, she took 45min to finish 60ml.. another 60ml to go, but my mil took her away saying that she wants to continue. but actually she want me to stop feeding my girl. then she says she is full and i keep feeding her till she feel uncomfortable... 60ml only.. later in the night, i will be the one suffer cos i'm the one taking care of her.

At 10.10pm, i wanted to put her yao yao and make her sleep, but my mil says she not feeling comfortable good and pull her out from the sarong. I keep telling my mil that she is very tired, let's make her sleep.. she refused to beleive me, i insist to put her into sarong and let my mil yao for 5 min she fall asleep while i do my pumping... then my mil carry her into the room for me at 11pm. But when she placed her on the bed, janelle woke up.

Oh god, how? not sure how long i still can tahan. wake up every night, sleep less than 5 hrs, working, pressured, mil... how?

Throughout the whole pregnancy, there are a few people that I wanted to thanks.

1) My husband

Thanks dear for all you have done for me and baby Janelle. Although you can’t be around in Singapore at all time, but thanks for making efforts to arrange your travel in order to accompany me to most of gynae visit and see baby Janelle, attending the parent craft course, accompany me for walks, carried heavy things and sending and fetching me to work.

Throughout the whole pregnancy, the words I heard most from you is "is this necessary??" when comes to baby shopping, "extra" when telling you things what pregnant woman will go through, “whose budget ?" when telling you that I want to buy/sign up something and “Baby” / “Baby Janelle” when you are talking to baby Janelle. Some can be very annoying, but some is sweet. 

2) My parents

Father and mommy, thanks for spending money and time making soup, tonic, nest bird for me and baby Janelle.

Father spent thousands of dollars on bird nest and ginseng for me. And mommy cooked bird nest, dang gua black chicken soup and 13 tai bao for me every month. Every week, she will called me to return home for soup.

3) Friends and relatives who had given me any advice

Many thanks… without all these advice, I will be lost.
