Lorong Halus Wetland

A Lazy Saturday 9am, hus woke me up and brought us to "a nearby and it's very special" - he claimed... *Yawn*

It's the newly opened new garden in Punggol New Town - Lorong Halus Wetland. A landfilled from trash transformed into an Eco-friendly wetland which provide an educational site and a sanctuary for plants, birds and other wildlife. Under the ABC (Active, Beautiful, Clean) waters programme, PUB recently completed works to create ‘Halus Wetlands’, to help purify run-offs from the landfill. This is opened to the public in early this March.

A pedestrian bridge has also been constructed across Serangoon Reservoir to allow for easy access by the public and residents from the Punggol New Town located on the western bank of the reservoir.

Using an innovative bio-remediation system, PUB designed the Lorong Halus Wetland to collect and treat water passing through the former landfill, preventing it from flowing into Serangoon Reservoir. A rustic trail has been laid out among the reed beds and the ponds, allowing the public to get up close to the wetland system.

We are all human... Let's forgive and forget..

All human made mistake.. so does the chairman and the organisers of this year's National Day parade (NDP) show.

Last weekend, Singapore had the first National Day Parade 2011 rehearsal.. and the Fun Pack Song was then first heard to the public.. the song -- which is a rip-off of Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance" -- has been roundly criticised for both its lyrics and the fact that organisers failed to obtain rights to modify the lyrics of the Gaga hit. A two-and-a-half-minute video of the song, shot during a recent rehearsal, was uploaded to YouTube and has gone viral with over 47,000 views as of Wednesday morning. I managed to catch it on wednesday afternoon after i read the news on yahoo... I cant stop laughing... cannot believe that's the song going to play in the National Day Parade and becomes one of the singapore song.. goodness me.. Netizens had reacted strongly against the song... In stomp, there was like 90% saying it's shameless and requested the organisers to take it off.

Today Update: The organisers of this year's National Day Parade (NDP) have announced that they are pulling the now-infamous "Fun Pack Song" from their performance lineup for good.

Tingkat Delivery

With last 2 weeks up and down and taking care of Janelle, and also long time never eat pork at home, cos of my helper, we tried not to let her handle so much. Thinking to give our taste bite a change, I'm subcontracting my dinner to the home delivery company. We are currently eating Tingkat Dinner from HillTopKB.

Here's are some of the feedback i gather from the forumn before i decided to go for HillTopKB:

1. Neo Garden - less salt and oil but got little MSG. Some mommies from SM commented their portion, normally the 4th dish are quite pathetic. - $190 for 2 pax for 20 days, max 2 day refund

2. Le Xin - no MSG, less salt and less oil. Vegetable dishes limited and soup taste bland - $195 for 2 pax for 20 days, unlimited days of cancellation

3. Kim's Kitchen - Got MSG. Quite a number of mommies recommended their service. - $170 for 2 pax for 20 days. The food portion is quite good, food is tasty but don't feel thristy after eating.

4. HilltopKB - no MSG, so far didnt see any negative feedback - $200 for 2 pax for 20 days. I'm currently using them. The food portion is quite good, enough for 2+1, taste is ok. Janelle enjoyed it.

Interested party can get more details from their site http://www.hilltopkb.com/delivery.html

Pediasure

After 2 months of goat milk, Janelle starts to reject the milk.. each time she only takes in 10 to 20ml the most... some times, once the bottle is put into her mouth, she immediately push it away. Mummy has no choice but to move back to cow milk. Getting BRT help to increase her intolerence limit towards the cow milk, and slowly moved back to cow milk.

Recalled that my neighbour is giving her girl Pediasure as per doctor recomendation to plump her girl up for a ear surgury. After a year, she is in a good weight now. And also one of Janelle classmate was introduced to Pediasure by doctor, because of his eating habit (many things cannot eat) and he is in a good weight too.

Hence did some read up on the formula:
- "The unique formula of PediaSure provides complete and balanced nutrition. Pediasure helps fill the nutrition gaps that can arise out of a child’s fussy eating behavior."
- "PediaSure is clinically tested by scientists, researchers and doctors to help increase height and weight** and strengthen natural immunity in children.*** These findings have been verified and published in scientific journals that are read by pediatricians around the world."

Nutritionally, a Pediasure can has 237 calories (labeled energy on the can, 7.1 g protein, 11.8 g fat, 26g carbohydrate l-carnitine 4mg, taurine 17mg, packed with many essential vitamins and minerals, and water 200g. Not surprisingly, the top of the main ingredients is water, followed by suger (sucrose), maltodextrin (corn), sodium caseinate, high-oleic safflower oil, soy oil, fractionated coconut oil (medium-chained triglycerides), and whey protein concentrate.

Pediasure is lactose free, which they say makes it easily digested. However, it is not for children with galactosemia - G6PD (lacks the enzyme to convert galactose into glucose; galactose in the bloodstream is like poison).

It's seems should be ok. Thought Janelle is not a fussy eater, but because there are things that she cant eat due to her intolerence, hence I decided to give her Pediasure to fill the nutrition gaps and also to increase weight for this skinny girl.

We are now on 100% Pediasure, but her intake wasnt alot too.. a day she properly takes in about 500 ml but is better than goat milk intake.

Is this a punishment?

Back from bkk with recharged... but the very next day i'm back from bkk, janelle was down with high fever (highest went up to 39.8) and lasted for one whole week with exhausted 90% of my battery. Had been waking up middle of night to check temp, to feed medicial every 4 hourly, rushing to KKH like 3 to 4 times. Finally after given antobiotic and fever got controlled on the 7th day and that's when her daddy retuned home. Is this the punishment i got for going for a break without her??
