Our washer has died...

Our 2nd hand washer has died after 6 years of usage at my sis in law place + 1.5 years of usage at our place.

Last night, maid was crying for a new one but I had night calls and hus asked him to hand wash. And she did...






I'm thinking should i get a Top load vs front loading:

A top-load washing machine is usually cheaper, but also less water-efficient. Top loaders are also faster than front loaders, with the average wash cycle around 30-40 mins. One biggest pro of top load is can throw in additional clothes in mid if washing. However they are much LESS gentle than front-loaders.

A front-load washing machine has many pros, mostly it is gentle on clothes, water efficient, quieter, can handle larger loads and has the advantage of being able to accommodate a dryer on top or providing some flat work surface.

Cons include having to bend over a bit to attend the load, more expensive at time of purchase, more electricity used as it takes a longer washing time and comes in limited color and design options.

Still can't make up my mind... I prefered a front load as it's more gentle to the clothes, but hus preferred to top load as it's cheaper.

Update 2nd Sept:
We went to courts and Gain City yesterday night to source for a washer... after listening to the promoter and also some researched online, we decided to go for electrolux front load washing machine. We saw one which is 6kg at $649.. hus and i looked at each other and says this is the one. The Washing Capacity is good, the size is smaller then others model, price is reasonable. BUT no immediate avaliable stock, since we cant wait till Mid-Oct. We went for a bigger in size 7kg EWF10751 http://www.electrolux.com.my/node38.aspx?productid=46738 and after some bargaining, we paid $819 with free delivery.

A Day Shopping at Ikea

Over the weekend, daddy says want to go Ikea to get a chair for his mom. the chair we selected are out of stock, ended up daddy got another 2 pots of leaves.. sigh. Told him is enough, stop getting more, but he just cant stop himself from buying plants. The plants at our corridors are so many that no more space for more... now he put them at stairs, at common area. My maid and myself feel peiseh when sees the neighbours looking at them.

Both of them are trying on the chairs.. papa bear chair and baby bear chair... :) cute isnt it?
But too bad, our small little house not able to accomodate this 2 items.


We bought a selves for Janelle toys... and got it install up over the weekend. Have been thinking of this selves since i spotted this at Nick's baby full month celebration. I find it very useful. But cos hus says wanted to move out so i wanted to keep this house as simple as possible and our house space limitation, i have put it on hold till this trip to Ikea. I know moving out is not possible and with my maid confirmation this is useful.. we got it. and it works as a very good stopper for our sofa.. very sickening sofa, too light hence it keep move away. When i strike toto, i will change you.




next item i want to get for this house:

- planning either to get a cabinet to keep all things on our study table or a gate to prevent janelle coming in to pull down all the stuff.

- TV wall mount bracket - placed order from china. Singapore selling at SGD$699 to 499. Saw it on china site and it's selling at SGD$50. without thinking more, i placed the order. Waiting to be shipped.

- soundbar/sound system... do i need this?
- a small table top for the kitchen, to place rice cooker... where can i get this?

Had been bumping into this glass panel a couple times without noticing the door is closed. Now with the sticker, I will not knock into it like the doggy

open door to our home

31st december 2009, thursday

In the late afternoon, about 3pm, we went up for the open door ceremony to our home at punggol. we brought along fruits - pineapple (旺來）apples（平安）orange（大吉）bananas（招財), this is according to the fengshui book by you rong zi.. :) to get a good head start for our very first home. Once we went into our home, i went to open up the windows to let the air circular. And the next moment, someone is at our doorway knocking on our door.. the contractor who wants to get our deal..

We went to talk to him and bargain again on the pricing.. somehow kogan had confirmed to take him up but just the pricing that need to be negotiate.. after another 1 hrs... we locked down the deal at 17K in additional items - shower screen and cabinets for the master bedroom toilet. My next headache is the design..

Key Collection...

30th December 2009, Wednesday

This morning, my MIL approached me and told us to move out... she don't want us to stay with her anymore.. And this marked and firmed out all the thoughts... WE ARE MOVING TO PUNGGOL

Noon time, we went for our key collection... finally.. collected the keys..

Procedure of key collection:

Items to bring:
a) bank passbook to settle some stuffs that will deducted thru GIRO
b) both ur ICs and
c) appointment letter
d) marriage cert

e) child birth cert

1) go to HDB level 2 to apply for Fire Insurance ($7 plus); we spent another $350 for 5 years comprehensive fire insurance.

2) go to HDB level 1's register counter for the Q numbers; and wait for the number to be called

3) in the room, you will sign sign and sign all the legal documents; decide how long to settle the loan, what is the % from both CPF, etc

4) go to HDB level 3 to make payment for conservancy charges abt 50+

5) go to HDB level 2 to apply for Singapore Power

6) go back to level 1 to return the receipt of (4) to the officer..

all will be done within 1hr...

We popped by punggol but didnt open the door as we are waiting for a good timing... so need to wait till tmr. :) *ren* we went to our shortlisted contractor chu from coos design for re-quotation for the renovation.. from renting out quotation 6K to moving in quotation 16K... it is additional 10K more.. wah...

we plan to do up

- grill for all windows

- add on a sliding windows to the service yard

- kitchen cabinet

- sliding tempered glass door for kitchen

- master bedroom and study room wardrobe

- false ceiling

- air con

The next one month we will be super busy and hopefully will be done before chinese new year..

Key Collection

21st december 2009, monday

after waiting for 3 years and 10 months, our flat is ready for key collection on 30 december 2009.

Final Decision

01 Decemeber 2009, Tuesday

Final Decision: We are NOT moving out...

Very upset and disappointed... waited for nearly 4 years... but for Janelle, we decided not to move out. Will continue to stay in Yishun with my mil and rent out punggol flat if possible.

In 2010, will let Janelle attend special school (Rainbow) in Yishun for EIPIC, a more intents physio therapy and classes for slow development child. Once she reached her age milestone, i will put her to the childcare nearby to my bil's place so that i can return to work force. Wanted to put her to CC (kinderland) near my mama's place, but the school dont want to accept janelle and there are no more nearby CC around my mom's place. So have no choice, i need to source somewhere near to my mil so easy for mil and maid to fetch jx, and this area will have more options. It is not easy to find a CC for Janelle.. many schools had rejected my application after telling them Janelle's condition and need to give her medication on time. While many of them just tell me Janelle is not ready for CC. Target to put Janelle to school at the age of 2.. So stay in yishun will be more convenience.

Further more, hus afraid if anything happened and i cant handle, especially when he is out of town. In Yishun, at the very least his mom is around, bil and sil is nearby (less than 5 min drive).

3rd, my job is not stable as from now onwards.. If i lost this job, i believe not likely i cant find one that i can work from home. So most likely by then i will be a stay at home mom till Janelle is ready to go for Childcare. So hus hope to have the rental income to cover up Janelle's medical bills and have more saving to prepare for the worst.

Guess i have no choice, but to stay put with all my mil's nags.. as i dont have any better plans for the above... Wish me LUCK..
