Lazy Sunday

Had been working for 6 days 12 hours.. once it comes to sunday, i'm dead tired... all i want to do were to lie on sofa, watch TV and sleep for hours till naturally wake up.. but with Janelle, this is impossible. So forced myself wake up, put on make up and went ikea shopping while husband stay home and study.. :) only shopping can chase away the lazy bum. Putting on make up without a reason like event/for work is so not me, but after reading Chanel Coco Quotes that morning, i decided.

Looking for a change

My life had been very boring... Looking for a change.. But with him things just can't seems to get moving.

Last month I told him:
Y: thinking to quit my job and start a small biz, what do think?
K: do u have the time? And you know janelle school fee, medical fee.....
Y: :(

2 weeks ago I told him:
Y: i'm thinking to have a job switch, ok?
K: why now?? I'm applying for new job now too.. Going for interviews. And maybe a pay cut but can stay in sg more

Last week, I told him:
Y: I'm going Bangkok with J in April
K: cannot wor, I got a meeting, need to fly.
Y: :(

Yesterday, I told him:
Y: im thinking to take on a course
K: huh? But my study have approved and I will be starting the course very soon. I need to focus.

Maxwell Food Center

Last Saturday, when we by pass IP, we decided to pop over to Maxwell Food Center for their famous chicken rice.

When I stepped into the market, I saw the only long Q was from Tian Tian. The Q was mainly foreigners from Japan, Korean and Thai. A plate of Tian Tian chicken rice costs $3 or $3.50. The excellent rice which is thoroughly coated with irresistable chicken broth is sufficiently chewy in consistency and extremely fragrant and flavorful. The special chilli is spicy and savory and complements the rice very well. However, the steam chicken was disappointed. It's skinless for all 3 packets, and the meat were tough. Both myself and husband find it being overrated.











In maxwell's FC, how I missed out my favorite xingxing topioca cake. This is the best tapioca cake i have ever had. It is so soft that it melt in the mouth with tapioca fragrance. It's like downy pillow showered in coconut shavings. Best!!!

Another Option: Ketogenic Diet

Janelle's last review with Dr, he proposed us to go for Ketogenic Diet as Janelle seizure doesnt seems to response well for serval different seizure medicine. And this month, we met up with Dr and Dietary to understand what is ketogenic diet.

The ketogenic diet is a special high-fat, low-carbohydrate diet that helps to control seizures in some people with epilepsy. It is prescribed by a physician and carefully monitored by a dietitian. It is more strict, with calorie, fluid, and protein measurement. Blood Test and Urine Test twice a day to ensure the sugar level and "keto" is at a good level. The intention of this diet to allows energy used are via the fat and not sugar. This is not a healthy diet at all and it will impact the growth. The dietitian gave me a sample menu on what's ketogenic diet, cut Janelle's current intake to half (half a bread, half portion of her rice and 30g of meat for lunch and dinner, and drink MCT oil and eat oily food). Drop the milk intake and drop the one snack at 4pm. As mentioned, this is not a healthy diet, so it is seriously lack of all the vitamins and minerals, so dietitian mentioned that hence they consitance need to do further blood test and will recommend vitamin and mineral supplements. If goes off the diet for even one meal, it may lose its good effect. So it is very important to stick with the diet as prescribed. Imaging now Janelle is taking this much and she is so skinny, to cut the portion into more than half.. i think my janelle dont talk about growth, she will be very miserable lack of nutriants and go on hunger. Is this a wise choice? Sucessfully rate is 30%. Min 6 months to determine if this is helpful with Janelle... Max 3 years.

I recalled that we met a girl who seizure was worsen after on this diet. But doctor dont agreed when i mentioned it to him. He insisted that the girl seizure worsen is not becos of this diet with the support of research papers in london. But he explainted that is because of her own seizure pattern that got worst. :(

When I were driving home, when i think of the blood test for sugar twice a day, my heart break.. and when i think of half of her meals, dropped milk, dropped snack... and she will go on hunger, my broken heart sinked and my tears were uncontrollable rolling down. Now is her active stage and we had put in so much afford to build her strength to climb, to wallk, and with this diet does that means that all our affort will be go into drain and she will becomes sluggish?

30% sucessfully rate? Should I let her try? go on hunger? taking blood from her 10 little fingers twice a day? lack with vitamins and nutriants .... had been in my mind these few nights. I feel like slapping the doctor, years ago, when janelle is not yet into solid and she eats what we gave, i asked for going on ketogenic diet, but doctor rejected. And now, when janelle grow up and into solid, and will be hard to control what's goes into the mouth then he proposed this.

A day trip to JB

Sat morning, despite my late night OT till 4am, dated my husband to go into JB to do some groceries shopping. Had been hearing ppl going to in JB to buy pampers. So wanted to check it out too.

Hus kind of lost his way to Jesco, and we ended at Carrefour. The items there are no way cheaper than SG. Mama poko is selling more exp then SG. So does pediasure. We ended up getting some tibits that's not available in SG.

When after lunch, wanted to return home, hus lost his way again, and this time we ended up at Kota tingyi visited his auntie shop and her house. Woo, her backyard is like kampong, there is fishes, chicken, ducks, turkey, rabbits, turtles and dogs. These are the kids grow up with, where in SG, we pay money to see these. So back to the earth, was telling kogan, if janelle is a normal kid, I will definitely ask her to stay there for a week or so over the holidays to experience the simple lifestyle away from those computers.






When back to JB, just returned home, we popped over to hus godparents place to say hi. The 2 adorable Ds. Darren was so cute, he will smile with me when playing peekaboo with him. Daphne is more pampered, easily jealous over her brother. but very smart. I was there teaching her abc.. She is the same age as janelle, when I'm teaching her, suddenly I have a thought that If janelle is ok, this should be what I'm doing now. that's life.

Home make Korean BBQ

Bob and CC wanted to bring me out for a dinner after one week of nightmare all of us had. 3 of us were drown by workload, but having my commitment to janelle.. They popped over for homemade Korean BBQ with happy call instead. I was stuck at work, so hus and cc prepared and did all the marinate.










The aftermath was horrible, the whole living room was so oily. :( I wonder how the Korean did this all the time. Ended our evening with free flow of laughter over the draw free app and red wine.

2012 Rainbow Term1 School Outing

Friday was Janelle's Rainbow Term1 School Outing to Fidgets - Singapore biggest indoor playground.

She had great fun running and climbing up and down for whole 2.5hrs...

女人啊~

女人的缺點，同時也是最大的優點，太容易有罪惡感！沒生龍子、嫁不出去、日漸變形、娘家还好吧， 陪老公夠不夠多、小孩教得夠不夠好、工作太多失去家庭、不工作跟世界脫節.....因為罪惡感我們讓自己活得有責任，因為有責任我們讓自己有時覺得很累！女人啊~

A home or a house?

After work, are you returning to a home or a house?

Are you providing a home or a house to your children?

Many youngsters had turned to friends and join the gangs when they don't feel any love from the family esp the parents. After school/work, they returned to a house and not a home. When I says love, this is not nagging from mommies, they don't feel nagging is love. To them, you nagged at them because You think they don't do well.. But why? What's the root cause of why they don't well?? Nagging doesn't resolve the cause and may cause back fire. In the olden days, Father is the one who provide house and mommy is the one who provide home. But these days, it seem that both parents are providing a house... and MAID is providing home. what a joke right?

Teaching teenagers are really a challenge. Had been thinking alot these days as i heard complaints from teachers that my niece and nephew telling lies, skipping classes when grandma not in town. Called their mom, she refused to pick up calls. Called their dad, went into Malaysia. In the past, the previous maid will call and call and check on those kids when my mom is not around. but now with new maid... she dont dare to do such things...

As a gugu, what can I do? How to teach them?
