Thinking is good to share with my blog reader n make a note to remind myself.
1. What are fits?
- A seizure happens when a piece of the brain turns on when it isnt supposed to. During an episode the child becomes unconscious and usually stiff, with jerking of the arms and legs. It is caused by an increase of electrical activity in the brain. The words ‘convulsion’, ‘fit’ and ‘seizure’ all mean the same thing. It is commonly found in child aged 6 months to 6 years.
Is it epilepsy?
Epilepsy refers to fits without fever, usually in older children or adults. Convulsions rarely lead to epilepsy – 99 out of 100 children with febrile convulsions never have convulsions after they reach school age.
[Yvonne] Doctor had not conclude her having epilepsy.
When a child has fit, you should
1. Don't panic
2. Put the baby down, turn her to side way. This is to prevent choked from her salica or if she vomited.
3a) if the fits lasted for a few seconds, bring her down to PD/GP after the fits ended.
3b) if the fits lasted longer, bring her down to PD/GP and call for ablumance.
If any steps I missed, or wrong please highlight to me.
