Janelle 5th Birthday

This year, I decided to celebrate Janelle's birthday as it's the day i received the gift from God but how?? I decided too late, and i'm alone planning and executing all plans as daddy is away. Not good in planning :) I choose to celebrate Janelle's 5th Birthday with her classmates in both schools and just with us daddy and mummy in the night when daddy touched down. But because i decided very late which not enough time to make to order of a 2kg above cake for morning school for the children and teachers. So, planned to bake cupcakes instead and managed to get Auntie J bake cupcakes for Janelle. Blessed...

When i walked passed Breadtalk, i saw this hello kitty cake which i cant say no. So i got it for janelle, but the cake was too small (1kg) hence i added on one box of cupcakes for the teachers for the morning school. Also, parties bags to go along.

Birthday Celebration @ St Gerard

Birthday's celebration @ Rainbow Center

The last minutes preparation doesn't come in easy...

The cupcakes may not have beautiful deco on it, but it definitely taste fantasia and filled with loves from YiYi J and A and also Mommy. It took YiYi J whole day to bake the cakes, as she has mini kitchen applications which can bake about 6 one time. And YiYi A to run to stores to get all ingredients and her first cream cream mixed. I'm the one who shape the cream... what a cupcakes:)

I have full day of meeting and conf calls, not able to take off. So immediately after work i went down to the nearby SKP, daiso and SS to grab all items for party bags, and went over J to cream the cupcakes. Before reaching home, popped over to compasspoint to collect hello kitty cake. When reached home, i have to packed her party bags and prep for the next day.. by the time i'm my bed was almost midnight.

But after seeing all those photos and janelle enjoying it.. it's all worth it.

Happy Birthday Sweetie!!!

SFO Business Trip

Was thinking this year properly wouldnt have a chance to travel myself to have some quiet time. Hus dont like me going holiday alone with friends or family. He feels that if there is chance to travel, it should be family trip which includes him and janelle. But whenever we plan for holidays usually will ends with nothing due to Janelle condition.

Praise God because of my new role, I'm asked to fly to SFO for 4 days training. It was a heavy loaded trip with great accompany and social with those young consultant who full of energy, and of cos never forget having a short break and shopping for myself.

My first lunch at SFO

Fisherman wharf

cable car trip

First night shopping was kind of disappointed, went into H&M grabbed as many as I can and Q for 20 min. When my turn, the sales lady doesn't allow me to make payment without a photo id. 一卡在手,天下我有 is not valid in SFO. :(

Next shopping trip was lady night, here's Part of my shopping loot:) of cos, if see clearly none are mine. All are for Janelle and baby zyan. I did shopped at the clearance sales and discounted items for myself but Janelle's are all regular price.

Spending money is great, especially not my money.. Enjoyed the weather, the food, the shopping. Wouldn't want to see my credit card bill.

Recently, I have been hearing and reading of “Eating Clean” from friends’ blog, facebook, twitter etc. and my skin care doctor also reminded me to eat clean… that’s made me puzzle and wondering how “dirty” am I eating?

Eating Clean For Dummies
From Eating Clean For Dummies by Jonathan Wright, Linda Johnson Larsen
Eating clean is simply the practice of avoiding processed and refined foods and basing your diet on whole foods. But there’s much more to this plan. You can structure your diet to get proper nutrition, help manage diseases, avoid developing diseases in the first place, lose weight, remove toxins, and just feel better.
The Basic Principles of Eating Clean
Eating clean involves not only choosing the right foods to eat but also avoiding all of the junk foods and processed foods that are so readily available. The keys to good health and proper nutrition are in the following principles:
·         Eat whole foods: Whole foods are foods that haven’t been tampered with, in the lab or the manufacturing plant. The foods you eat on this plan are straight from the farm: whole fruits and vegetables, whole grains, grass-fed and free-range meats, low fat dairy products, unsalted nuts, and seeds.
·         Avoid processed foods: Processed foods are any food that has a label. A label means that more than one ingredient was used to make that food. You don’t have to eliminate all processed foods (like whole grain pasta or natural cheeses), but if you can’t pronounce an ingredient on a label, don’t put that food in your shopping basket.
·         Eliminate refined sugar. Refined sugar provides nothing but calories. Other sweeteners can be used, but with all the good foods you add to your diet, refined sugar really has very little place in the eating clean plan.
·         Eat five or six small meals a day. By eating smaller meals throughout the day you can help rev up your metabolism and reduce the chance that you’ll eat some Funyuns rather than that whole grain cracker with nut butter and strawberries. You never get so hungry on this plan that you’ll feel deprived or feel the need to cheat.
·         Cook your own meals. Instead of buying meals in a box, cook meals from scratch. That’s not as hard as it sounds! Clean, whole foods need little preparation beyond chopping and sautéing to make satisfying, delicious meals your family will love.
·         Combine protein with carbs. When you do snack or eat a meal, make sure that meal is balanced. For the most satisfaction from your diet, and so you’ll be less tempted to eat junk food, combine protein with carbs or carbs and fat. This simple act will fuel your body and quash hunger pangs.

How Whole Foods and Eating Clean Help You Stay Healthy
What you eat really does have an effect on how you feel. Eating whole foods and avoiding junk food — a clean eating lifestyle — can keep you healthy or help you regain your health if you haven't been well. Follow these precepts and you will have a better chance at living an active life:
·         It’s easier to maintain a healthy weight, which reduces the risk of several diseases.
·         Eating a good variety of foods ensures you get adequate amounts of most essential nutrients.
·         Relying on whole foods is the best way to get a good combination of micronutrients.
·         Whole foods keep you satisfied longer so you’re less tempted by junk foods.
·         Foods high in micronutrients can help reduce cholesterol levels and regulate blood sugar.
·         There are some nutrients we haven’t yet identified that are present in whole foods but not in supplements.
·         Whole foods help keep your digestive system regular.
·         Eating a healthy diet makes you stronger so you can stay more active.
·         Avoiding artificial ingredients keeps your cells strong so your body systems work efficiently.
·         If you feel good, you’re more likely to take care of yourself in other ways.

Basically, drink more water; eat more fruits and vegetable; less oil and salt. Personally, I feel that eating Clean is not enough; you will need to move your butt too in order to have a healthy lifestyle, better body and skin. For the past one week, I have been trying to eat clean and hitting on the park for a short run or taking the stairs to give my heart a lift.  Without junk food, it’s like my life is not complete, no satisfactory. Not easy, mindset need to change too. Told my hus this morning, he quickly took his mobile phone, setup reminder to check on me a month later and says “I see how long you can least.” |||

As Yishun branch only has 2 student signed up, hence no teacher focus are there. Although she came in last, but i'm so proud of her completed her run.

As it was sponsored, the t-shirt that gaven wasnt in the right size, so i gave janelle to wear her last year's t-shirt, and daddy is running with her.

Singapura Finance even catered breakfast for us.

Us waiting at the waiting area, we are the last category to go and is under a super hot sun.

 Ready!!! Get Set !!!

Not sure is Daddy there to push Janelle to rush or Daddy there to slow Janelle down. :) it seem that it's Janelle pulling daddy.....

Teachers from Rainbow run with Janelle, encouraging her... jia you... jia you

And ta-da.... Janelle crossed the finishing line.

Yesh. She made it. *love her rosy cheek*

So proud of her.

At the end of the race, i wanted to collect the goodies bag, anncement came out and says all goodies bag had redeemed. So we are there, waiting, and waiting, run and came home with a medal and a cup of milo. :P but afterall, we enjoyed the run. This maked Janelle virgin 800m run. More to come??? :)

Chruch Camp 2013 - Tioman

This is our planned trip since last year to spend our 2013 June Holiday in Tioman Island - Malaysia with church. After much consideration on the travel options:
1. by coach then ferry from mersing, total traveling time is about 7 hrs
2. drive up then take ferry from mersing, total traveling time is about 7 hrs
3. Take a 40 min flight but with additional cost

we decided to take #3, spend abit more but to have a shorter travelling time, less tired, managable especially with Janelle. And this had made Janelle virgin flight experience.

Happy Janelle cant wait to head off to the airport. She even helped to push her luagge to the main door.

Bringing 2 kids on flight, Janelle is having fun being "push" around in the airport.

This is how Janelle spend her 40 min on flight. Praise God, no sweat. But hus forbid me to go near them as Janelle is a ultra bully to Mummy. She always behave so much better when only with daddy.
After married for coming 6.5 years, first time ppl addressing me as Mrs Yvonne Gan.
This is Church Camp, so we spend our morning and evening together with all Church members for prayers and services. RECONNECT, RECHARGE and RECONNECT.

And our Church is a bottom up Church, so we are given time off in the afternoon to spend time with our family. And with Janelle, we spend our afternoon taking afternoon nap and 2 afternoon in the sea, swimming with the fishes and 1 afternoon in the swimming pool, playing slide. Indeed, We had a great time, helper having her break while mummy took over the role of mummy to feed her, bath her, play with her, taking care of her, while i gave my helper timeoff to have her meals, for her to explore with snoking .

This is a trip that 4 days 3 night without internet, praying in the morning, in the night to get myself recharge and reconnect with God also spending quality time with Janelle and Hus.
