Renewing of Wedding Vows
then this strike me... if all jan 2007 couples (in the SGBrides) get together to renew our wedding vows, it will be more interesting. haaa... as we worked together for our wedding and supported each other thru our big day preparation in 2007.
If there is such a day, all couples might be bringing along all their kids... heee.. might be quite a mess.. haaa.. instead of romantic.
Hellooo..
Helloo.. dont be shy to drop some words.. heee
Huggies Contest
It's ok, there's long way to go...
Anyway, many thanks for those had voted for janelle. :) Thanks.

a day after work
So what i usually do is to bring her into our room... I will sponge clean my girl, once after sponge clean she would want to take a short nap while i quickly so and take my shower and dinner. when she woke up, i will talk to her, read her story and tummy time. by 9.45pm will put her in sarong to make her sleepy by 10pm, no matter she fall asleep anot, i will pull her out of sarong and gave her the last feed and put her on the bed.

yesterday tummy time is cute, i turned her over and she strugged for a while to get her comfortable position and refused to move anymore... sucking her hand comfortablely for 5 min. as usual her nei nei will come into our room to "recuse" her from tummy time. my mil always says she is not comfortable in such position or she will says she like it and carry janelle out of the room or away from me.
and yesterday i told her
me: this is one of the way to train her back and neck muscle.
mil: i always carry her upright, she like sitting on my tummy.. and in this way she also can trainned her muscle.
me: she is resting on u... not trainning
mil: see, her neck is also stable now
dont wish to argue with her.... so i keep quiet. guess in future, i will just need to lock the door up.

Janelle is sick again..
Sunday after janelle's afternoon nap, she lost her voice. Now she is in her hoarse voice.. i'm so worried and insist to bring her to PD in monday morning instead GP. haiz, that stupid PD cant diagnose out anything.. just say is normal.. how can it be normal and i questioned the PD?? she says throat is ok, no infection, lung is ok.. she cant think of anything that causes it to happen. Then she gave me a referral letter to spec, and she wrote there her diagnose is normal but worried mother insist to seek for spec advice. kns, why dont she says she useless and dont spot any problem. I spent so much money for her consultation and leave me suspend in the air like that. still worring for my girl.. haiz
Motherhood to me is the scariest, hardest, most stress filled and wonderful thing I have ever done.

Back to work
Had returned to work since 7th Nov but requested to work from home from 7th Nov till 14th Nov, as my mil went to TW for holiday. Yes, she choose to go holiday when she knows that i returning back to work.
In office, need to pump for my girl next day supply.
My girl need at most 4 to 5 feeds in the day when i'm at work.
My girl drinking pattern:
7am - if she is able to wake up at 7am, then i will latch.
10am
1pm
4pm
7pm - if am able to reach home by 7pm, then i will latch.
10pm - formula
4am - latch (hoping she will cut this feed).
So my pumping schedule will be
11am - in office
4pm - in office
10pm - at home
usually 3 pump is enough for 4 feed. if not, then i will pump after janelle 4am feed. so far so good but tiring. hopefully work stress dont reduce the flow.

Am a bad mom?
At 10.10pm, i wanted to put her yao yao and make her sleep, but my mil says she not feeling comfortable good and pull her out from the sarong. I keep telling my mil that she is very tired, let's make her sleep.. she refused to beleive me, i insist to put her into sarong and let my mil yao for 5 min she fall asleep while i do my pumping... then my mil carry her into the room for me at 11pm. But when she placed her on the bed, janelle woke up.
Oh god, how? not sure how long i still can tahan. wake up every night, sleep less than 5 hrs, working, pressured, mil... how?

Welcome

Welcome!!!... Yes, we are adding a new member to our world of two..
After visiting http://yvonnekogan-weddingannouncer.blogspot.com/ for our wedding updates, now it's time to change your favorites to http://yvonnekogan-babyannouncer.blogspot.com/ to welcome our baby girl.
Estimated Due Date: 5th Sep 2008
Thank You
Throughout the whole pregnancy, there are a few people that I wanted to thanks.
1) My husband
Thanks dear for all you have done for me and baby Janelle. Although you can’t be around in Singapore at all time, but thanks for making efforts to arrange your travel in order to accompany me to most of gynae visit and see baby Janelle, attending the parent craft course, accompany me for walks, carried heavy things and sending and fetching me to work.
Throughout the whole pregnancy, the words I heard most from you is "is this necessary??" when comes to baby shopping, "extra" when telling you things what pregnant woman will go through, “whose budget ?" when telling you that I want to buy/sign up something and “Baby” / “Baby Janelle” when you are talking to baby Janelle. Some can be very annoying, but some is sweet.
2) My parents
Father and mommy, thanks for spending money and time making soup, tonic, nest bird for me and baby Janelle.
Father spent thousands of dollars on bird nest and ginseng for me. And mommy cooked bird nest, dang gua black chicken soup and 13 tai bao for me every month. Every week, she will called me to return home for soup.
3) Friends and relatives who had given me any advice
Many thanks… without all these advice, I will be lost.

Pregnancy Blog
Yvonne :- It's a mixed feeling for me.. Excited to be a mom... but worried whether is it too early... Our Plan B is 2 years later.
Kogan :- stunned.. Speechless.
29 Jan 2008 - First Visit to Gynae
Today we went for the first visit to Gynae - Kogan read from the forum and selected Dr Coraline Khi from AJC Clinic at TMC.

Baby is now 8 weeks 1 day old and is 1.75cm.
My EDD is on 6 Sept 2008.
26 Feb 2008 - 12 Weeks and 4 days
Our Second Visit to Dr Khi.This morning, we woke up early and went to hospital for oscar test – a test done thru ultrasound and gets the neckline measurement of baby and determine the chances of baby having down symptom. The tests took about 1 hour and followed by blood test.
This is our second time to see our baby thru ultrasound, this time we can see his little hands and leg.. he is moving when the ultrasound is on him. He seems to saying “Hi” to his mummy and daddy.. Very cute and sweet. Kogan even commented.. “Sweetie, you see, our tall little boy, he is long” haha.. first time see my husband so gan jiong.
We went for the blood test.. drew 3 tubes of blood… ouch..painful..
We waited for the result to be out in the afternoon from our gynae. And did our follow up visit with her. Thanks god blessing.. the result is good. Chances for down symptom and blood disorder are very low. Baby is healthy.
My EDD is revised to 5 Sep 2008.
Baby date also revised.. 12 Weeks and 4 days now.
Oscar Scan:

18 Mar 2008 - First Gift for baby
Today, I went to challenger to get a set of creative speaker (cost $39.90) to connect to my MP3. So in the night time, I can play some music for baby. This is the first gift I bought for my baby.
25 Mar 2008 - 16 Weeks and 4 days
Baby is now Week 16 and 4 days.Went for our follow up appointment with Dr Khi. Waited for 4 weeks to see my baby again. Heee…
When we started on ultrasound, the first thing we saw is baby’s face. Yes, she is looking at the ultrasound scan… saw her eyes, nose, mouth.. Everything is good.. Wanted to find out whether is a boy or a girl, but no luck, baby don’t cooperate. She lied there with her leg crossed… relaxing and enjoying herself. 5 minutes later, she turned to a kneeling position.. Ops.. We witness her turning, just right in front of the ultrasound scan.. haha… very cute.. We guess is a girl, but Dr Khi don’t want to commit.. she said let’s wait for next month detailed scan. So far, baby heart beats is good… we see her face, legs, hands and fingers.. all are well developed…

My weight now is 51kg. Up by 0.8kg this month. :P
Stomach starts to show up..
22 April 2008 - Week 20 and 4 days.
Yesterday, Kogan dropped me an email, saying that he had a feeling that this will be a baby girl. And he will love her and provide the best and a complete family for baby.
Kogan accompanied me for detailed scan this morning at TMC. We waited for 30 minutes in a silent. As this scan will determine if we are having a healthy baby. Indeed, she is, and is doing well and healthy inside my tummy. And we have confirmed, as Kogan 6th sense, it’s a baby girl. She is an active baby, she moved around, raised her arms and legs but towards the end of the scan, she fall asleep. Cute right? Heeee…
Today, when resting myself on bed, catching 9.30pm shows about marriage, I felt my baby movements for the first time. It’s like bubbling in my tummy.. The feeling is amazing and wonderful. I told Kogan when he came into the room, but he don't believe me… he placed his hand on my tummy and waited for 30 min and he feel nothing.. haha. Guess this feeling is only for mummy..
We break the news of the gender to my mother in law during the dinner time… the first thing she reached home, she told Kogan that she have decided the baby name already. “Rui Zheng”, Kogan wanted to name her “Rui Xue” and I wanted to name her “Rui Xuan” but both of them rejected. Now will have to wait and see what’s her birth date and timing and let the geometry decide which one we can use.
My weight now is 53.8kg.. Up by 2kg+.. Have to watch up my diet..
9 May 2008 – Milk Bottles
Yesterday after work went to Robinson to do some shopping. I saw the Avent’s newborn starter kit is on 20% off which I have been waiting for. Of cause, wait no longer, I bought the set.
When I returned home, going through Dr Khi’s list of preparation items, she made a remark of “BPA free” on the milk bottles. Hmm.. Wondering whether avent’s milk bottle is BPA free, search though the box, can’t find any sentence that stated it is BPA free.
The first thing I did this morning was to post this question to the forum. The replied I got is avent’s milk bottles are not BPA free. Went to avent’s website, and it stated it is not BPA free.. oh my god.. I got the wrong stuff.
Should I use glass bottles instead, but again there are some mama feedback that glass bottles can be danger especially when it cracks and didn't realized it.. Wah, didn't know that just a milk bottles, there are so much to be worried for. Have to be more careful when getting babies stuff in future.
After talking to Kogan and being a kia-su mummy (haha), I will bring the milk bottles back to Robinson and exchange for BPA free over the weekend. In market now, only medela and born free are BPA free plastic milk bottles.
BPA (Bisphenol-A): a chemical used to make plastics that can also be found in pesticides, fungicides and many other products. Heating plastics with Bisphenol-A is thought to unleash hormone disrupting chemicals into liquids and foods. Recent reports suggest that the chemical BPA could cause behavioral changes in babies.
20 May 2008 – 24 Weeks and 4 days
Kogan is in Bangkok to run a project for two weeks, hence not able to accompany me for this month review. I brought my mom and sis along instead, to show them how the check up is carried out.
Baby is doing very well. We listened to the heartbeats, checked the weight, length and fatness. Baby is in the average range, hence not much of a concern. No need to go for additional tests or detailed scanning unless the baby is having problem. (Keeping my fingers crossed)
This is the first time for both my mom and sis to listen to baby’s heartbeats and seeing how the baby is coping in mummy’s tummy. Even though my mom had 5 children and 3 grandchildren, she had never been through this stage. In the past, the gynae will just pressed on her tummy and tell her we are doing well that’s all.
Dr Khi commented that baby’s heartbeats are very strong and powerful, which is good. My mom was there… ooo… this is baby’s heartbeats. My baby even did a stunt for her grandma… one moment facing up and another moment facing down.. My mom was there, she is turning, now facing down.. haaa.. My baby girl had made a smile on her grandma and aunt face.
My weight now is 54.5kg, has put on about 8.5kg since this pregnancy, and baby’s weight is 780g. Not even a 10% of my weight gained. Hmm..
21 May 2008 – torture from mil HELP
It's another morning where she is there complaining about other people. Wondering why is she so negative and sees all things that other people do are wrong.
This morning, she started complaining about the bread i bought, bil's maid, then kogan’s aunty. And of cos, she is there saying how clever and how good she is. She told me that have to start toilet trained baby in their 3rd day. Pianz. Babies in their 3rd days know what?? She said she did it for Kogan’s nephews and I doubt as Kogan mentioned that his nephews are brought up by caretaker cos his mom has no time to look after them, she was working at that time. Haiz. I’m sick of it. Can I have a peaceful breakfast?? Every morning, she will have complaints, don't know where all these had come from. It made me feeling very negative and pissed off every morning.
Wanted to go over to Bangkok, to have a peaceful week, to cheers up, but my father scolded me and says NO. Haven’t tell her yet, I guess she will also disapprove and nag even worst. I give up, there’s goes my plan.
Yesterday night i was talking to my mom on the phone.. Was asking my mom to check with my bro when is he free to move the baby cot over for me.. then my mil was there scolding.. "Cannot move. .... “cant she see me talking to my mom.. so rude.. Listen to ppl talk over the phone...
then this morning, she ask me to go and buy plastic drawers for baby.. i told her i'm not going to buy.. no place to put.. she says is for baby not me... of cos i know la.. i have emptied a few drawers for baby.. she keep quiet.. i think she going to get it... and put it in her room.. Hack care..
Baby cot cannot ship over, but can buy drawers.. What a logic.
4 June 2008 – Baby name
As I have mentioned in the early entries, my mother in law and Kogan had come out with her name on that day knowing her gender.
1) 瑞征RuizhengMy mother in law gives her 征, so that she can be independent and able to 征服 things she wants.
2) 瑞雪Ruixue Kogan gives her 瑞雪, meaning lucky snow that comes in time to produce a good harvesting year. 瑞雪照丰年
3) 瑞萱Ruixuan I gives her 萱, no special reason, just I like the sound of xuan. Went to do a search and it’s referring to a kind of flower orange day-lily (Hemerocallis flava). The name Hemerocallis comes from the Greek words ἡμέρα (hēmera) "day" and καλός (kalos) "beautiful".
But as mentioned, Chinese name will only be able to confirm after she is born and take her birthday to geometry to calculate the numbers of stroke before deciding which one to be used. And this is insisted by my daddy, her grandfather too. So, her chinese name to be confirmed.
For English name, i have spent 3 months searching through the baby names database, books and finally decided to go on Janelle it is pronounced as Jan-nel, meaning god of gracious. My initial plan was to look for names that starts with “S” as she will be a September baby, but after looking through the S names. Nothing we would like our girl to have. So, next, I decided on having a name starting of “Jan” as Kogan and I are married in January and she is our fruit of love. And Janelle was selected as Kogan would want her baby girl name has a meaning of gracious.
9 June 2008 – Baby Janelle’s response
Yesterday night, when I’m chatting with baby Janelle and she can understand me and she response
Yvonne: Baby Janelle, today poor daddy is sick, not able to talk to you. Come says good night to daddy and let him have a good night rest
Baby Janelle: *kick*
Yvonne: how about mummy??
Baby Janelle: no response
Yvonne: ooo… mummy will be very sad if you only says good night to daddy
Baby Janelle: *kick”
Kogan: what are you doing… sleep la..
Haha... Interesting right? That’s something daddy will not understand. :)
10 June 2008 – 27 Weeks 4 Days
Today is another review with Dr Khi, and meeting with our baby Janelle. Baby Janelle is doing well. But not her mommy, I having rashes on the tummy, Dr Khi says it could be heat rash. It’s itchy, but has to control to prevent any scar in the later stage.
We did ultrasound too, to see our baby Janelle. Her head is very near to mommy’s bladder and caused me need to visit ladies very often. Making me to exercise in the office by climbing up and down the stairs for the ladies every an hours or two for the pass one to two weeks.
We have signed up with cord life for banking baby Janelle’s cord blood. We hope that this cord blood no need to be used, but keep it as for just in case. Kogan says don't wish to be regret only when things happened, which I agreed with him and will take it as a terms of insurance (just in case things happened).
My weight 56.2kg (up by 1.7kg within 3 weeks) and baby Janelle is 1155g..
16 June 2008 – Baby Movement
Yesterday night, when I was about to sleep, I felt my baby moving very strongly. Can see my tummy moved. When I took out my hp to video down her movements, she stopped. heee...
I feel like a “hot” mummy now, for the past few nights, I will on the aircon at 25 degree while resting in the room and Kogan will adjusted the aircon temp to 26 degree when he is in the room, he scare of cold. In the middle of night, I will wake up for sure sweating and have to lower the aircon to 25 degree in order to get back to sleep. But yesterday night, 25 degree isn’t enough for me.. my goodness, didn't had a good night rest and I don't dare to lower it further else Kogan sleep will be affected. 25 degree and he already there shivering and covered with 2 blankets.
17 June 2008 – First Ante-natal lesson by TMC
Kogan and I went for our first ante-natal lesson at AMK hub by TMC.
We started with watching a videoclip about breast feeding – reminded me how Kogan milked the cows during one of our outing to southern highlight in Australia. OMG!! Some simple exercises – which I find it ok only, as she did not focus on the breathing technique very much. And, it ended with the staff nurse Mdm Chong (standin for Mrs Wong) going through the nutrients required during pregnancy - which our gynae had gone through with us during our first consultation, furthermore, now we are in 3rd trimester, it would be abit too late to go through these. Anyway, I take it as a recapped.
One thing Kogan find it interesting when Mdm Chong mentioned about blood type. She asked “ If your blood type is B+, your wife is A+ and your baby is O+, is the child yours??”, Kogan gave a thought and says he will doubt. Heee, but there are chances to have a baby that is O+ while the parents are otherwise as O type blood is a universal blood type. So don't doubt. But if both parents are A+ and have a baby with B+, then you might want to find out more details from your wife.
24 June 2008 – Second Ante-natal lesson by TMC
Kogan is away for business trip for a week to Philippines; hence he is not able to accompany me for the class, I went alone.
Today lesson was taught by Mrs Wong. Woo, I think she is good, so much better than Nurse Chong. Her lesson is more interesting, she even bring in a baby doll when she explain about the lectures which I think is so much easy to understand and wouldn't make me feel so sleepy especially after a long work day,. She gave us warning that her lessons always overrun so if meeting anyone, ask them to join in instead. When Mrs Wong recap on what is taught in lesson 1, all of us went huh… we had missed out so much, such as what is the purpose way to get up from the bed, floor; seating down on the ground so that wouldn’t be stressing so much of the back; How to communicate with the baby etc. But Mrs Wong is kind enough and agreed to go through the lesson 1 with us again in the next lesson.
As usual, the lesson started with watching a video clip, this time is about pain relief. Today exercise was on different breathing techniques that will be used during labor. Hopefully I will not forget about it when it comes to labor. Will go through with Kogan when he is back and force him to remember, so that he can guide me during the labor. Heee. Mrs Wong even taught the husbands some massage techniques that can help the wife to relax during the labor, so during the labor, husbands wouldn't feel useless. J As I’m alone, during the massage practice session, we formed a train with those without husband accompanied (3 ladies there) and Mrs Wong massaged for the 1st and 1st to massaged for 2nd and 2nd massaged for the 3rd. And I’m in the second place. I feel that Mrs Wong did pay special attention to the single, which I think is quite nice of her.
27 June 2008 – Red Raspberry Tea
Some mummies recommended Red Raspberry tea on the forum, to help strengthen the pelvic and uterine muscles so that once labor does start the muscles will be more efficient and smooth the process of natural delivery.
I found http://www.momsinmind.com.sg/ do sells the tea online and had made an online order. $5+ per pack of 50g wor. From the site, it mentioned that it is safe to drink in early pregnancy such as 1st trimester. But some other sites mentioned that should used during the 3rd trimester (2-3 cups per day). I guess it would be alright for me to start now in week 30, not too early or late.
But don't think I will take it everyday, as I believe everything too much is no good.
For more information, you can get it here: http://www.babycenter.in/pregnancy/labourandbirth/planningyourbabysbirth/raspberryteaeaselabourexpert/
29 June 2008 – MIL Pig’s stomach soup
We started our day very happy but ended with a mess.
Kogan accompanied me to marina square to pick up crocs shoe for Joelle birthday present. We even went to waterloo street to pray, went SAM to see Xu Bei Hong's printing exhibition, had tea break at selegie, went back to my mama place to wash the car before returning to my bil place for dinner. We had a great day, seldom had a day that filled with so many activities.
Nightmare came when we returned to bil place for dinner. We had totally no idea that a silent bomb is going to explore and just because a bowl of pig’s stomach soup. Yes, Mil cooked pig stomach soup. When I took the soup out from kitchen and told Kogan that “it’s intestine” very soft. Guess what, she heard it and explored.
MIL: Why? Cannot drink meh??
ME: no la… just that doctor advised not to take intestine during pregnancy
MIL: Who says.. everything also can eat. And this is what I going to cook during confinement. If you don't want to eat, I don't know what to cook for you.
Kogan: She don't take, don't take lo.
MIL: I don't know how to cook for you … you go and find someone to do confinement for you.. I don't want to bother about you guys anymore, forever …
Kogan: ai yo. Just a dish, she don't eat, don't eat lo.. don't need to says that kind of words…
MIL took her bag and walked out of the house.
Wooo.. everything happened so fast which I have no idea what’s going on.
When we returned home, Kogan trying to be nice to her so he asked if her cough gets better, need him to fetch her to see a doctor…
MIL: don't talk to me.. I don't want to care.. and don't need you to care… don't want to talk to you…
Wah, I started to gets worries, imagine I have to leave my baby with her when I returned to work, what will she going to do on my child when she is in anger. Kogan had reassured me that she wouldn't. But I still very worried, she seems that had out of her mind. How? Worried worried worried.
My next worried is my confinement how?
1) Bring baby back to my mama home for confinement. Would be the best, let her don't have a chance to see baby. But my house is small; don't have extra room for us. And had no idea how to explain to my parent.
2) Since I having a maid, call in confinement meals (cost~800 to 1500). Money is a problem.. Not within our budget.
3) Stayed in Yishun and ask my mom to cook for me, transportation will be a problem
Suddenly it strikes me, is it because I’m having a baby girl, so she gets pissed off so easy? She don't bother to ask or to cook tonic. Ai yo.. Guess I’m thinking too much.. Don’t wish to let her upset me. Don't want to think so much.
01 July 2008 – 3rd antenatal lesson by TMC
Today, we reached the class early in order to get a seat at the back row, so can have back rest.
Started the class with video of labor, Mrs Wong showed us 6 types of labor, both nature birth and c-section. The video is kind of eeeerrk. I know, that’s the real life on how babies are delivered, but I just can’t take it, at least I wouldn't be seeing that moment myself. Lucky Kogan is still ok. Haaa.. but I afraid he will faint or his mind will be blanked when I’m in labor.
Mrs Wong taught us how to communicate with the baby. Ops, now then realized that we have been doing the wrong things for so many months.
1) Talking to baby
* tab on the tummy to communicate with baby, do not rub; it will cause pre-mature contraction
* to check with the baby is happy or don't wish you to disturb. Feel the top of the stomach, if it’s hard, leave your baby alone
* don't call you baby with given name, there are chances that gynae diagnose wrongly and baby come out with a different sex. Don't confuse baby.
* Talk to baby with your hand on the tummy, should let the baby know when you are ending your conversation. For eg: “ok, mummy is going sleep to night, talk to you again tomorrow”
2) Appling stretch mark cream
* Don't rub in circular, will cause pre mature contraction. Should apply the cream with two hands moving upwards.
08 July 2008 - 4th antenatal lesson by TMC
Today is the 4th lesson and each couple was given a baby doll for hands on. Mrs Wong taught us :-
1) How to burp your baby
2) How to undress your baby
3) How to bath your baby
4) Swaddling
5) How to fold a cloth diaper
When Kogan was paying his full attention on how to bath the baby, wraps the baby and how to fold the cloth diaper, with his hands on the baby doll. That moment does look funny but it does show me that his is putting in his effort. Although when I look around, I see most daddies are doing a better job than him but it does not bring away that warm feeling and efforts from him to baby Janelle. *sweet sweet*
Mrs Wong also brings in a few items that she thinks is really good to sell it in the class. Kogan and I just bough the towels ($9 each) from her since we haven’t got. The rest of the items are more or less in, so don't plan to spent additional ever it is that good. We saw almost all the couple bought towels and baby swaddling cloth from her.
Some items Mrs Wong recommend in the class:
- pigeon’s baby laundry detergent
- pigeon’s cloth diaper
- avent’s/ J&J non-raise baby wash
10 July 2008 – hiring a maid
After work, I have to do all the housework and I had enough. Request Kogan to call up the maid agent reckon by mil and bring in a maid asap. I’m tired with washing and ironing the clothes, washing up cups, toilet, etc.
The agent brought a few of the maid profile for our selection. Kogan and I think it would be better for mil to choose the maid, just in case anything happens, she wouldnt blame it to us. But when I show her the photos, she kept quiet. Don't want to give any comments, just say “u r the one who want to hire her, u choose la.” Pianz, trying to make things worst for me.. haiz.. I looked up for her reaction when she was looking at the profolio. Trying to get one which she thinks is more suitable, but of cos together with my viewpoint.
Finally, maid is selected. But either me or kogan has to attend the employer course from sp before we can sent in the application. Shara suggested to let Kogan to do it, let's see how long he will take to complete it.
11 July 2008 – 32 Weeks
Today it’s another appointment with Dr Khi and to meet our baby Janelle. Everything is good. Baby Janelle is doing well. So the meet up was a short one.
Through the ultrascan, we see baby Janelle again. This is the first time, i see her sucking her own finger. heee.. here's the photo:
Baby Janelle is now 1990g. Up by 795g. Dr Khi advice that if till full term and baby is more than 3.5kg, I will have to go for c-sector as my frame size will not be able to go for natural birth. But at this point of time, natural birth shouldn't be a problem.
Wo, but till todate, I have put on 2.9kg within a month. Now into my 59.1kg. Omg.. I have over my limit of 2kg a month. Have to look up for my weight gain.
We have booked the hospital room, and also Dr khi for delivery. Deposit $200 for Gynae.
16 July 2008 – 5th and 6th antenatal lesson by TMC
5th lesson is on breastfeeding; Benefits of Breastfeeding are well aware by most mummy, such as it will protects baby from gastrointestinal trouble, respiratory problems, and ear infections, also will reduce mummy from risk of breast cancer. According to Mrs Wong, we should starts breastfeeding baby as soon as 3 hours after baby is born. Supply = demand, first few days, baby stomach is still very small, so what we produce will be enough for her. I’m targeting to breastfeed till 6 months old as per recommended. In the first six months of life, breast milk is packed with disease-fighting substances that protect your baby from illness.
Demand feeding vs Schedule feeding:
Mrs Wong reckons schedule feed (3 hrs) in the day time and demand feeding in the night time. This will encourage baby to have a longer hours sleep in the night time. This will able to reduce the numbers of time waking up to feed the baby.
Patricia had advised the same. I will try it for my baby.
Mrs Wong does not encourage microwave sterilizer, as there are research mentioning about the harmful chemical in microwave, hence she does not recommend this for newborn.
6th lesson is doctors talk. It split into 2 parts, 1st session – Gynae talk, focused on labor processes. Now then I realized that baby born before 37th week are considered as premature babies, anytime after that would consider as normal. I always though that full term is in week 40. When we need to check into hospital: when contractions are 5 minutes apart or once the water bag breaks.
2nd session was by a psychiatrist talk abt depression. He mentioned that most of the in laws and parents have their ways to bring up children which are different from us, and usually these in laws nag and discourage will leads to the mummy to post natal depression. I afraid this will happen to me… … Dr also mentioned that daddy should just give in to mummy during this period to prevent any conflict or depression to the mummy. This is because if mummy went into depression, daddy will need to take care of mummy and also the baby and handling the in laws/parents. So the best solution out is to give in to mummy. Heee.. this is so true.. haaa..
19th July 2008 – MIL in action
This morning at about 4plus AM, mil shouted for Kogan. I heard nothing, but can feel Kogan jumped out of the bed. She is in pain and dizzy. She requested Kogan to send her to hospital, as her head is spinning, Kogan get her to rest in her bed to prevent any falls, make her hot drinks, etc. 6am , Kogan wakes me up and telling me that he is bringing his mom to the hospital. Kogan went to take a quick shower and wanted to bring her to hospital. Guess what, she says she is feeling better, head no longer spinning, so don't need to go hospital nor clinic. *fainted*
After few weeks of cold war with us, her anger went off when she is sick and need help. I guess is this why people always says, a person is most fragile when he/she is sick.
25th July 2008 – Week 34
Another 6 more weeks to go, getting nearer and nearer.. I’m getting more and more nervous. Not sure what will happen, just hoping for the best.
This week Kogan is away, on his business trip to Zhuhai, Beijing and shanghai. So today gynae visit I went alone, as I returning to office to have farewell my colleague cum lunch kaki.
Two weeks and I have put on 1.9 kg, crossed my targeted weight into 61kg now, uh har, guess I will need to work harder to loss those pounds.. and baby Janelle put on 300g, in her 2.3kg. Dr Khi checks and everything is good. Baby Janelle had turn her head down but yet to engage. Position is good, and that’s what we are looking for as Dr Khi comment.

Everything is good, Dr Khi commented that baby position is low and checked that i have dilated for 1.5cm. So Baby should be out anytime next week. Dr Khi gave me preparation list for hospital bag and ask me to get ready and standby.

16 Aug 2008 - Birth Story
Kogan touching down in Singapore on 15 Aug 2008, 11.30pm. By the time he reached home, took a shower and get into the bed was already passed 12am. I was awaken by him, and we had a chat updating each other about our days.
At about 1am, i stood up and went to the toilet. After my pee, was about to stand up, i find a gash of water flowing out. immediately i sit down to the toilet bowl and called for kogan.
Yvonne: Dear.. I think my water bag blast.
Kogan: is it? (refused to believe me)
Yvonne: Yes, we have to prepare and go to hospital NOW
Kogan: (jump up from the bed and went into the toilet)... No la, no gash of water out what.. can return and sleep
Yvonne: Yes, I have a feeling it is.. Let's go to the hospital for just in case. If it is not, the midwife will sent us back.
I took a shower and went down to TMC. When on the road, i starts to feel the contraction, and it's about 2 min apart. I reached TMC at about 2am and was directed to the observation room and put on the CTG machine to monitor the contraction. 15 min later, Midwife told me that i'm in active labor and already 4cm dilated. She paged for my husband and got him to do the paperworks for admission while i preparing myself for the labor.
I was brought to the labor ward at about 3am. Cant sleep as the contraction is getting stronger and stronger. At about 5am, i started to feel the pain and starts to vomit and have the urge to push. Informed the midwife, and she checked and was about 6cm dilated, not ready cannot push. Was telling myself, OMG, still got 4 cm to go.. Requested to be on laughing gas, but still feel the pain. Requested to be on epi immediately.
While waiting for the anesthetist, I'm on the laughing gas. Went into a deep sleep, feeling numb. And I dreamt about father in law telling my mother in law that this is their grand daughter. But somehow my mother in law dont get it. So, i tried to pass this message to kogan by focusing and telling him that this is our baby janelle, this is our baby janelle, this is our baby janelle.... Next moment, i found myself were already on epidural and just woke up from a nap and it was already 7am and ready to go into labor anytime.
8am, a midwife came in and prepare me for labor, telling me how to push. When seeing baby head crowding, i was told to stop and wait for Dr Khi. at about 8.15am, Dr Khi arrived and ready to push and push. Baby Janelle heartbeats starts to slow down and Dr Khi says need a little help for the labor, vacuum was used to assist in the labor. At 8.35am, Baby janelle was born and placed on my tummy. And daddy to cut the cord.
After baby janelle was washed up by the midwife, she was handed to daddy. Kogan brought her to take the weight and height measurement in his arm. Guess this moment where kogan cannot forget.
