Dental visit part 2

Dental checks continue... We booked an appointment at KKH as referred by SPB. After a month of wait, finally mange to get the assessment and schedule for GA and removal in late February. Yes, another 4 months wait. 

Dentist suggested to remove 3tooth, filling for 2 and put on a metal cap for 2 moral tooth. And also to change the milk for Janelle. She shared from what she had seen so far, pediasure causes bad tooth decay god it's too sweet. And since Janelle need milk to sleep then she recommend either similac or nan which she see less bad decay for these children. Nan has denta pro and less sugar..

But Janelle pediasure to pump her up cos she is too skinny.. But her to protect tooth.. Aiyo, ended up I decided to mix milk powder. 3spoons of pediasure and 2spoons of nan. I know many ppl shared that shouldn't mixed milk powder as we don't want to overdose on one nutrients on the babies. But I think Janelle is old enough and I think pediasure should have the max of everything, so reduce it and add on nan hope to get at least 50% of both. And it does show improvement on Janelle tooth as notice that it doesn't smell badly anymore.

2015 Christmas Tree

Due to space constraint this year as we build in a TV console that maximum all white space, so i put my Christmas tree on the wall..

This is a combined of 2 2.7m long Xmas wired Christmas decor.. It's allow us twist and bend to any shape we want. Thanks to my helper, we managed to put this up within an hour or so.. (Pls don't ask me where my hus.. ><) 

Initially I started 3M stick on hock.. But after first 2.7m went up, which I need about 6, I find it too costly. $6 for two, 6x3 already costed me $18. So I went to local hardware store got got those cheaper version 2 for $1.20 and in order to protect my wall, I replaced the stick with 3M. And that's half of the price. Not very pretty as the 3M isn't the right size, but it's ok, cos it will be all covered up. 

Cleaning up project - working area

This is an area where I work and entertain janelle everyday. So within this area, on the left hand side is what I pile up but on the right hand side is my maid and janelle will put things there. After a year, really quite a mess.

One fine day this week, I decided to clean up this area. Can't believe that my table can be so clean. Haha. Started cleaning on Monday, rush down to daiso to get some contains for post-it and stationary..  and today is end of Wednesday and I still feel not 100% done. The wires under the table will still need another day for me to think how to organized it.

During cleaning I found many things that I can't explained why it's on my desk.. 

First Dental visit

In Sept, Janelle was reviewed by school dental and received a referral letter to Singapore promotion  board dental for GA and filling.

Called in to make appointment and had to wait till next year Jan, luckily there was a slot that a patient just call in to give up the appointment in nov. Immediately i took it despite that it's janelle nap time.

The appointment is 2.50pm but nurse requested us to go in before 1.50pm to take antibiotic before GA is given. Guess what, we reached at 1.30pm and do all the registration and wait... wait... 1.50pm i checked with the register that janelle need antibiotic before seeing dental.... 2pm i reminded them.. and 2.15pm.. I lost my patience and asked them the 3rd time. I told them that if they are not going to give janelle antibiotic why do we need to come one hour early. Just to wait for 2.50pm? if is 2.50pm my janelle don't have to skip her nap. ARGH. and by 2.35pm finally we managed to see one dentist.

I'm proud that janelle was able to sit down and let the dentist had a quick check. It's a quick one before janelle says "finished" - her favorite words recently when she don't want to continue. Dentist shared that there are a few decaying tooth here and there on on the baby tooth which not much of a big concern as it will drop off. However there is one tooth decay and is impacting the permanent's molar tooth and she will need GA in order for her not to struggle and hurt her during the cleaning and filling. And dentist referred us to KKH for GA.

Don't ask me why? i'm wondering why need to refer us to SPB when the school dental nurse already stated need GA and SPB can't do it. Wasting our time. To make things more complex, SPB need janelle's neurology to do the referral, insist of direct referral to KKH dental in order for us to be under subsidized rate. So now it's a waiting game again, went back to CMC@2 nurse and sent in the referral letter for Dr Chan reviewed and for him to do the referral for us. 

Sad to say, guess Janelle was overtired and had fits that afternoon during her nap at 4pm.

Came across the video on Facebook.. Remind me of a similar situation.. Just recently, When I'm teaching my girl to stop for red light even there is no cars approaching, red light means stop and green light means go... then a man walked passed us and crossed the road.. my girl looked at me and I like aaaa... Haiz.. But I don't have the courage the correct the man... So I tell my girl that we can't control what ppl do, we just don't have to follow and we do what we need to do.. red light means stop and green light means go..

Another milestone for Janelle - 7yrs old MMR

Couple weeks ago, teacher sent in the form from MOH for MMR jab in school for all P1 children which I agreed that Janelle to take the jab in school instead of bringing her to family doctor. 

Today Janelle teacher whatsapp me, telling me that Janelle is a very brave girl. Didn't cry... 

How many clean your washing machine?

Not sure how many of you clean the washing machine, but I know I didn't.

Since I got my washer a couple years back, and is my maid the one who does all the cleaning instead myself. hence I didn't noticed how dirty it is till I took over the job recently. I nearly fainted when I see the molds all round the washer. I tried to use baking soda, vinegar, daiso drum washing power, and none help to get rid of the mouldy smell. I'm was kind of concern as it may cause skin problem if the mould is not get rid. 

And worst, the washer started to give me a lot of problem like the water is not able to discharge, the detergent and softener in the dish was not washed down, and the washer keep stopping half way and need to manual trigger to start again. And the only function working is the mini program.

I can take half a day to check and wash one load. Was so angry and decided to change the washer. 

This time round, I'm choose a top load. Reasons because 

1. mouldy is an common issue in all front load if you didn't allow dry the machine each time after wash. Top load doesn't have the rubber thingy around the edges, so this is not a problem in top load.

2. Front load do save more water than top load, but with today technology, top load is catching up the water effeciency and it now comes with 3 ticks too.

3. Sometime or many times after I started the washing, I will realized one or two pieces are not throw into the washer. With top load I can pause and throw it in and continue with the wash again, without having to wait for the next wash. 

4. To save the trouble of looking for low sub washing detergent. 

This time round, I choose Samsung 8litre top load washer.

One side note: don't even think of selling the old washer to garang guni to earn that few bucks... None of them wants it. They shared that the amount they get is not worth the effort to bring back the washer, dismentle it and sell parts by parts. So no one wants it. Thank to my husband ideas, now I have another problem to get rid of the washer.

We saw the moove media cow at the entrance of Punggol waterway entrance, and Janelle was prompted by us to check it out...

I feel that Janelle is trying to pose yeah with her fingers... She is trying...

When she ran to the next board, she was looking at it for a while and she looked at me and says "smile... Smile" then I realized that she wanted to take photos... 

So glad to see improvement in her. Although she need a bit more time then normal kid to react, but she is aware.

Racial harmony and hari raya celebration

It slipped my mind on Thursday and only realized that Janelle is ecouaged to wear Malay costume to school to celebrate racial harmony and hari raya....

Tried to dig out a pass down Malay dress but it's too big for janelle. Was thinking ok la, just a few hours.. And I sew abit in the skirt and it wouldn't fall down will do. But after dinner, me and hus was thinking the top is kind of too big for Janelle.. So we rushed down to mustafa to get since a couple of friends says mustafa there is Malay costume. (Not one but 3 says that, although I'm in doubt) as expected, mustafa sells Indian dresses not Malay... Guess many Chinese are like me, doesn't know what's the different in Indian dress and Malay dress. 

The best match of Malay dress I can get was the sia kebaya from mustafa. There is different prices some more.. $26.90 is better material and more like sia kebaya but that doesn't has Janelle size. So I got the cheaper one $20.90 with some design on the hems and material are lighter. Not so hot too.. 

Reached home about 11pm, quickly hand wash it and hang it in our aircon room. Was still worrying that it will not dry. But It's very dry this morning, quickly iron and put in front of the fan to bring down the temperature. And here come my pretty Janelle. 

Mummy says I have the potential to be ms sq girl... The big round eyes, charming smile, tall and slim.

I try to match mine with Janelle.. And the app is pretty smart, know that I'm her mom. 

Taking over mummy job?

Many times I feel that daddy just don't appreciate mummy job... Not sure how many experience that, but definitely in my family. My husband always complaint that I didn't do a good job.. Cooked a spicy dish and he says We tortured him. Ask him to send Janelle down for school bus as I didn't sleep well in the night, he says he has meeting later and need more sleep. When he saw smartphone in my hand, he complaint that I spent a lot of time on iphone... The list can go on if I want.. :( To them, they thought they have bring back the bread and they are the king of the family. Time has changed, mummy also bring back the bread isn't it? But still need to deal with baby, then maid then the king then the king family too.. Nowadays woman is worst then olden days woman. Working mom need to multitask and doing multi jobs.. When I'm tired, I will just give myself a pat on my shoulder and telling myself I can do it. Whatever challenges in going thru, God is with me and He will see me thru just like the past years...

Meet the parent

Last Friday Janelle teacher messaged me and asked for a meet the teacher session. Im like oh no, what did my Janelle did that teacher wanted to meet me.

Teachers feedback

- she started under the care of mrs x who is more soft spoken. And one day when Janelle was punished by the teacher and was asked to stand behind, Janelle was angry and pulled the teacher hair that nearly caused the teacher to falls from them on Janelle is under the care with mrs Wong who are more loud, drama and firm.

- my drama princess started her training from school. She showed her happiness, smiling face to the teacher she likes and she showed her sadness, pity face to the teacher who is more firm to her. The extreme of her expression has clearly written on her face.

- janelle has a habit of pitching ppl when she is under stress and when she is seeking for attention. Mrs W will give Janelle a loud NO and explain the reason to Janelle in a very firm tone and telling her I DONT LIKE. And we had see a  reduce of her pitching to others. This will need to continue at home till she totally stop.

- teacher also shared that Janelle is very pretty and has a strong character like the singer wang fei. Mrs W the drama queen even sing 我愿意for her and Janelle will sing along with her mummering. Don't know if it's good or bad. But teacher warned us to tame down her strong character from young else we will pulled by her lead and prompt serving and helping her.

- request to work on sorting and focusing with her. 

- overall we see improvement on janelle for the past 6 months

Janelle :"smile" and this is the smile she returned me. First time she did that, so happy with her improvement. Thank God. She is getting more and more of her daddy look as she grow. 

Lunching out

We seldom lunch out and this is one of the few, lunch at pasta without daddy.

Eye check

During the last visit with dr chan, he noticed Janelle eyes strain outwards and he requested for an eye check. I'm quite reluctant to do so because of the long waiting time and discomfort after the eye drops. Since doc requested, so we went and I also like to have an update of Janelle astigmatism eyes from 3 years ago checks.

Today there isn't much crowd as exam is coming but we still there for 2 hrs, and went thru 8 pitstops. Optometrist confirmed that Janelle both eyes tends to strain outwards after a while focusing on one thing. Optometrist shared that wearing glasses might be able to help her bring the eyes back to center but only if she has degree. Hence we did an eye dilation to check her power. Thank God she is like mommy having perfect eyesight, she don't need to wear glasses. Astigmatism eyes also no more. Nothing much we can do but some eye ex cerise to build up the strength of the eye Muscle so that she control and prevent the eye strain outwards and become lazy eyes. 

Need to be back in 4 months time to confirm the strain is not worsen.

How to get rid of the funny smell/taste in new kettle

Recently bought a new electric kettle. The first and second boil, it comes with a funny smell or taste in it. Almost going to throw the kettle away as I can't take the funny taste and I wouldn't want to give that kind of water to my girl. Hus suggested to put in a few slice of lemon into the hot boiled water and leave it overnight, then discard the water and boil another pot for drinking. Lemon contain critic acid and it will help to cleanse the kettle and get rid of the funny smell/taste. Indeed, it's works...

Mobile phone and me

Since this year started I have developed a habit to place my mobile phone near me when I sleep. This helps me to check the time easily when I wake up in the middle of night. 

Yesterday, hus took my mobile phone away and when I woke at 3am, I wasn't able to find it and can't tell the time. Although I'm very tired but can't get back to sleep without knowing the time as I scare I will miss janelle wake up time for school. Force myself up to look for my phone, by the time I knew it's only 3.30am, I can't back to sleep anymore. I'm fully awake already. Was so angry with my hus who took my phone away, and he got scolding from me the first thing in the morning. Argh. Am I alone who has this habit?

2011 second family Photoshoot by waipeng @ ufoto. Waipeng so far was the best, she very patient and tried running here and there to make janelle laugh and most photos came up quite well. 

2013 3rd family photoshoot by Celine's friend. He asked us to sit there and be pretty, while waiting for Janelle to come into pic and snap. Surprisely the result was quite good. :)

Planning for this year... Any good recommendation? Looking for one who is very patient, friendly and able to capture janelle most beautiful moment.. Let me know if you have one to recommend. 

My most expensive shoes

Sometime don't know which nerves went hype wire in me, I will have an impulsive to get luxury items to reward myself. 

Recently was so tired on clearing other people shit. Had to work day and night on recovery and to push out on a boss committed timeline. The due date was one after another, super stress and tired. Finally all had completed.. and balance myself I got myself close to $400 pair of shoes to reward myself.. So far this is the most expensive.. But that's impulsive, now looking at it, I'm so heart pain.. Hus asked me how much I spent?? And I returned him with a smile. Hahaha

One of the possibilities???

Over the CNY, MIL meet up with a staff nurse from UK. She shared that in UK she see many cases like Janelle who are having seizures not due to gens. She shared that one of the possibilities is due to assisted vacuum delivery.. Where the skull pressed on the nerve during the delivery process. And they did ops to correct it.

Met up with KKH doctors last week and shared with them about what I heard. 2 out of 2 doctors I spoke to had disagreed with that statement. Doc shared the bones of a newborn baby's skull are soft and flexible, with gaps between the plates of bone. At birth we do see redness on Janelle skull, and according to doc it's may be Fluid that collect in the baby's scalp, or blood may collect beneath the scalp. This may further distort the shape and appearance of the baby's head. Fluid and blood collection in and around the scalp is common during delivery. It will most often go away in a few days. And to convince and put me at peace is that doctor took up the CT scan we did years ago and according to the report there wasn't any nerve is pressed by the skull bones. 

Doc shared that he is not interested to put janelle under any knife as her trigger points is at her arms and facial nerve. If she is to be under the knife, then she will lost her left side controls. And janelle is now well controlled and we wouldn't want to mess her up again. Which I agreed with him. We been through a lot to this stage and may God continue to heals her and guide her teach her on daily improvement. 

Keeping a dog

We have been talking to keep a dog.. gave hus a green light last year as I feel that it might not be an bad idea although I very scare of dogs. Heard about Dog therapy can help to bring joy and laughter into this household and hope it takes away our negativative and balance our life. 

We was so near to adopt a 2 yrs old Tsu shu but just before we confirm the dog, janelle was hospitalised. After that we didn't come across any dogs that we think it suit us and slowly none of us brought this up again. 

Till yesterday, my bro bring his dog over and hus took out dog water bowl, comb etc from store room which I have totally no idea about then I realized that he was serious. Hmmmm...

2015 CNY

Was down with very bad flu that took me more than 3 weeks to recover and was so busy at work - clearing a colleague shit - I cannot understand how can one executive reporting out as all on track when she didn't do anything for the past 3 months? And only when time to close bosses then realize all is undone. Haiz.. Anyway, was too weak to get out of my bed the days before CNY even, so leaving many things not done. Thank God at least I had prep for my mom and in law place😖 This is the first time I didn't get my hair, my nails, home deco up.. I even didn't buy oranges for bai nian. Yes, I'm so unprepared. And was so nice, suspected is wisdom tooth caused my jaw, ear and head so painful that I can't sleep and need to be pain killer throughout the Chinese New Year period. 

This year we tried KR BBQ for CNY reunion dinner, this is so wrong.. My SIL says she had washed and set her hair nicely, don't want bbq. So ended me and one nephew was doing all the bbq inside the kitchen and serve them in the living room. The aftermath was madness to wash and clean. Maids were starring at me. Lesson learnt. 

CNY eve, janelle won the best dress in school. :)

Day 1, visited my grandma then in law then my parents. Didn't manage to get a matching dress but I got her a matching bag.. 

Day 2, visited godpa and godma in Malaysia then SIL. This was the first time I tried my SIL home cook food.

Day 3, visited my gupo, shengpo then 4th gugu place. Decided not to bring maid along as we wanted to have more bonding with the relatives then maid.

Day 4, visited auntie place

Day 7, steamboat at mama place. CNY without steamboat seems to have something missing. This year was the first time where gugu and cousin XY joined in for lo hei with my mom. My mom was so excited and even called me in the night to remind me to get more food for them. 

Day 9, uni friends gathering

After which catch midnight show with my family.. Enjoying my sis pregnancy privilege with premiere class @ nex.. 

Day 10, our annual event with A and J. One of the nicest lo hei we had this year at A place. 

At my mom place.. Hamburger was so happy with 2 lollipop on her hand from pop. And well entertained by baby zyan. 

Guess we our new year visiting has come to an end...
