School holiday program

Since School holiday started, there is no classes from Rainbow Center. Thinking leaving janelle at home watching hi5 all long, i rather put janelle for full day childcare. Mommy also can some quality lunch break. once again, she is into full day. Hope she can adopt better this time round.

Day1 - rested with milk but didnt nap
When i pick her up.. she cried for a good 5 min...

Day2 - rested with milk but didnt nap
Picked her up 30 min earlier and Got her a box of snack as a reward for staying in school for full day. Snacked and fall asleep half way in the car

Day3 - same rested with milk but didnt nap. Picked her up 20 min earlier and talked to me for the whole journey back home...

Guess she knew it now that she is staying in school for full day and enjoying herself

Baking cupcakes

About a year ago baby sis started desert bar business and she started to bake.. As seeing her baking, it called out my long buried interest in baking.

When baby sis was overwhelmed with her baking, she reached out for help and outsource.. but how can i bake and sell something im not confident. Since then I started to search online trying out different recipes and fine tune them to the texture and taste i like. During my trial and errors, those sucessful batches will go to the church sunday classes without waste and their positive feedback always gave me a confident push before i started accept my sis overflowing orders. Since then i have been baking at least twice a month.. one week for the children and on special occasion another for my in law family who is my tester.

Here some current output from me:

An buttery afternoon

A couple weeks ago, I received a message from A saying "Von, If I'm in, you are going with me". She submitted for the Sweet Culinary Sensations workshop and the bake-off challenge hosted by SCS and Ch8. We are not the lucky pairs selected to paticipate in the bake-off challenge to win capella voucher, but we were invitied to join the Sweet Culinary Sensations workshop where we learn how to recreate the classic Fraisier cake, chocolate chips cookies and salted caramel sauce. On top of that there free flow of sparkling wines and a delectable high tea spread at the lovely Capella Singapore.

The event was hosted by Yes933 DJ Seow JiaHui

We had a sugar rush that afternoon, pampered by wide-range of the high tea spread that are make from one same ingredient which is SCS butter. My top 3 favorites were
1. the focus of the event - Strawberry Fraisier Cake, the creme patissiere was perfect
2. Crispy outside yet Chewy inside's Capella Signature's Chocolate Chip Cookies. Chef sam shared that this is one of the desert which many guests had requested for recipe
3. Banana bread that the strong banana flavored just filled my mouth in my first bite. I tried making banana cupcake before, i know how tough to bring out the strong banana flavor with just only real banana and no essence

We are very honored to have chef Sam Yong from Capella Hotel to shared his recipe and live demo on the Strawberry Fraisier Cake and Capella's Signature Chewy Chocolate Chips Cookies. He shared with us tips here and there and even open the floor for any questions. One of the important tips that Sam Yong had shared is the butter used, and that has to be SCS butter which the rich taste and flour to bring out the awasome texture and favor of the cake and cookie.

After the workshop, everyone received a limited edition baker's kit worth $128 sponsored by SCS. A and myself was so excitied of the goodies kit that we cant wait longer but we opened up the box in the car to see what's inside. Just nice the SCS staffs walked past and looking at us with a smile, i returned a smile to her :P Very Generous of SCS, there's apron, oven glove, silicone baking pans and cupcake mould, measuring cups, measuring spoons, spatula, whisk and a non-stick baking tray.

It's an awesome way to spend our sunday. Looking forward for more :)

Financial Planning

I'm not an insurance person cos i thought such things wouldnt happened to me.. not till years back when SJ was admitted to hospital and witnessed how the hospital bill sucked dry my bro 15 years of medisave. Since then i bought my first insurance for hospitalisation. Then after the car accident, hus got me an accident insurance and critiea illness for me from his friend's friend from P. And on my 2nd accident when i hurt my eye, im covered and managed to claims all the bill from eye specalist. Immediately after janelle born we bought her hospitalisation insurance. And Thank God all her hospitalisation bill are being cover since her first fits till now. Even now we wanted to get more for Janelle, we cant due to her medicial consider. But at least she is covered with minimum.

Couple weks ago, we first meet up with one of our chruch mate who is the director of a independant financial firm.. he shared that he is the million table board etc etc.. that almost bored me out. Yesterday we met up with him again, he revised all plans i have and did a revamp on almost all policies i having to have a greater coverage and same amount of premium im paying now. He did shared that cos our friend are represent the insurance co, so what he can offer is what the best his co can offered but not what is the best in market. Unless i have the time and knowledge to compare one by one, to decide which to take up. And with the market movement, more better plans are coming up to catch hold of policy holder.. So once a while, still need to revised whats on hand works for u anot? When it comes to financial planning, i leave it to my hus and expert in this area to work out what's the best they can offer for me.

Are you an insurance person? My advice get it when when u can. If revision needed, talk to you planners soon before its too late.

Blessed and loved

Had been complainted but my hus so much that i something forget his good... im going to blog down small little loving things he did to remind myself im blessed and loved. Let's start with this milo...

Me: why waste money getting packet milo?
He: This is for my wife who always rushing to ferry janelle and always skip breakfast. With this, u can take one packet and drink in the car whenever u r rush...

*blessed and loved*

OOFD

Was requested to return to work in office for the past one month for the new role and project i took up. Before married, i love to shop and buy clothes and shoes almost every weekend. After married, i stopped buying so much shoes cos my mil will nag. After have Janelle and started to work from home, i stopped doing shopping for myself. Once a while, when to de-stress then only do online shopping once and then, at times to pick up my sis's hand down but her clothes are too much that i dont have time to dig.

Set a little challenge for myself to see how far my wardrobe can bring me without duplicate the top/dress i have. :) Not too bad bah, a working from home mummy still have a wardrobe that can last me for six weeks.

Not long after, i realised that i'm such a white and black person

trying to add some colours to my outfit
