1 workaholic + 1 working mom = 2 sotongs on travel for the first time.. This is another time where 38 Club cant be completed and this time is due to J's have a weddding lunch with her very closed relative on sunday. So she had to give it a missed. It had been a while that we have quality time together, updating each other. Once we checked into the airport, we did a little shopping to get some gifts and coffee to wakes us up. Once we sat down, coffee came and we started the updating... Till 7am and gate closed at 7am. We ran to the gate but we are late for 4 mins and the gate was closed. Our first time missing our flight. The ground staff wasnt friendly at all, she shouted at us.. *angry*.

I'm using hus kris flyers points for the air ticket, so in SQ record, he was the point of contact. SQ called him at 7.15am telling him no show of flight. He jumped out of the bed "my wife went out at abt 5plus.. How is it is a no show???" He wondered what both of us was doing. He tried to call me but I didnt pick up the call, and that made him worried even more... he called A to checked our status. Panic for a little while.
After a classic drama at the counter, paid the no show fee and we got on to the next flight to bkk. This time round, we don't even dare to go for breakfast and parked at the gate for boarding. Lol.
Once we touched down at bkk, we took a taxi to our hotel at Novotel @ platinum. After about 30 min of traveling time, We saw our hotel right in front of us, but taxi is not moving at all.. We were caught in the traffic jam when we almost reach the hotel. It's so near yet so far. Waited for 5 min with the taxi moving for abt 50cm.. We decided to drop off from the cab at Central World and walk to our hotel which was just cross the busy street stores and a bridge.
We decided to have a power nap before we kick start our time in BKK.. But Drama#3, reached hotel at about 12pm, but hotel room wasnt ready, so can't take our power nap. God doesnt want us to waste more time, we went straight to the building beside our hotel - platinum fashion mall and kick start our bkk iternary.
Our first lunch in bkk:
We targeted to shop for 2hrs at platinum mall before meeting my cousin in law for dinner at central world. But ended we took 3hrs plus just browsed level 5 and 4 at platimun mall before we check in hotel to do a report out to our family over viber. Washed up and went over to Central World which was just behind our hotel for our dinner. Before our dinner starts, we went into NaRaYa for a 30 min shopping. :) it was so crowded that i feel the air was so thin and i almost fainted inside. It's was a long dinner together with my cousin in law and a couple of his Christian friends. They are very kind and nice person, did a prayer for me and my family, and shared with us about their missions. Had a great time meeting them and indeed it marked another first time for A and myself to did all these in a public, a shopping mall instead in the church. :) Thanks God, it was great.
After a long day, we didn't forget to update another member of 38 club who can make it for this trip via what'sapp. :)
Day 2.
"You must try the wanton mee near Platinum Mall guaranteed more than 1 bowl" was the message of most blogs stating the best wanton noddles in Bangkok. Opp of Platinum Mall, from McDonald's just before Shibuya and turn right into Soi 19. The shop is somewhere in the middle of the lane. These were the information that we had and we went around looking for the eating place. Maybe the word "best wantan noddle" made us pinned high hope on the noodle. My take was been there done it and never will be back.
1. more than one bowl is because the portion is too small.. three mouth and we were done.
2. i would considered as exp as the portion was really too small. 2 of us, ordered 2 wantan mee (1 dry, 1 soup) with a plate of braised pork and 1 thai tea that cost us about THB200.
3. after the wantan noodle, my flavor that had in my mouth was lard, lard and lard.
Address:
Soi 19 Petchburi Road,
Pratunam, Bangkok.
After our breakfast, that wasnt filling, so we topped up with fried chicken just outside the resturant. This was very nice... THB30 for 1 wing , 1 drum. and with a sticky rice.
We started our shopping at Chatchuchak Weekend Market. Took a BTS and alighted at Mo Chit Station. It opens at 9am and lasts till 6pm. We reached there almost 12pm, and it was damn big and hot there, till dont have the mood to shop there. Thanks A brought 2 foldable fan and it came in very handy, else believe me, i will faint :)
Generally, there are 11 sections in Chatchuchak:
· Clothing & Accessories (sections 2-6, 10-26)
· Handicrafts (sections 8-11)
· Ceramics (sections 11, 13, 15, 17, 19, 25)
· Furniture and Home Decoration (sections 1,3,4,7,8)
· Food and Beverage (sections 2, 3, 4, 23, 24, 26, 27)

· Books (sections 1, 27)
· Antiques and Collectibles (sections 1, 26)
· Miscellaneous and Used Clothing (sections 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 22, 25, 26)
Things are cheaper than you see in the malls. You can slowly walk as sometime you will find some interesting stuff there not seen in town. I got some handmade tops and bottoms for Janelle so it's only one piece But need to go early to avoid the "hot" sun burning.Oh, beware of pickpockets as Chatchuchak is one of the higest crime area in BKK.
After Chatuchak, we needed aircon very badly, so MBK was our next target. We took a BTS alighted at National Stadium station. MBK is probaly Bangkok's most legendary shopping mall, popular with both tourists and locals. 8 stories packed with 2000 shops that almost everything. Went Tokyu to buy undergarments, this had became a must have activities for me. My fav brand Wacoal selling is like 60% cheaper than SG. Other than that, nothing much in MBK worth mentioning. If you have a short trip, i reckon give MBK a missed.
Returned back to hotel to offload and report out to our family. :)
While on our way for dinner, we saw this lady carring many big soft toy and she says her friend won all those by bursting the ballon. heee, me and A also wanted to try our luck. No luck for us... and lucky no luck else i have problem bringing it back.
A little massage session before our lunch. THB90, This massage wasnt shock at all, is like apply lotion on my foot. Cant feel anything. The worst is A had to sit along the corridor having her feet lifted up and down.. lol.
Our dinner at MK steamboat, a resturant that highly recommended by A's friends. Simple and nice.
Although we were very full, how can we missed the street food. We got a sasuage and McDonald Pork burger for our supper.
Day 3:
Our plan for Day 3 was very simple, to complete all things that we wanted to eat and do within 5km of our hotel cos this was a day we are returning home in the evening. "Dont think so much, as long as below SG$10, just buy." was our objective of the day. Walked along the plantimun market which was opp our hotel and walked into a soi for our breakfast. THB90 and we settled our breakfast with satifaction. The portion was ok and the soup was very nice.

After breakfast, we shopped along Plantimun market and i spotted a massage salon foot message at THB200 with free wifi. :) Checked and there was a lady inside doing massage should be quick safe. Pull A in to have one hour of foot massage and a throw in of 5 min of head and shoulder massage. This meassage is what i call massage. With the arching of each tireness out. Shock! We saw 2 man walked into the shop asking for dont know "special massage" or "facial massage" and they wanted a lady who were not in uniform to do for them. According to one of the man, she was the one who did it for him the day before. Then She brought them upstairs.. hmmm...
We had our lunch at Fuji, the japanese restuarant at level 6 platinum mall:
We wanted to have something light, before another round of shopping in the mall. Everything on the table costed us SG$30. :) After lunch, we spilt our way for 2 hours to grab what we need to grab..
Our tea break, another item cannot missed in thailand - Bird nest:
And spent about one hour packing and squeezing in my luggage.
That's end of my yearly 3D2N trip for 2012.. Looking forward for more and hopefully by next trip we can all members in 38 club to be reported... Our next destination to HK, then JP. My hus had gentle remindered that next girl's trip can only come in 2013 :(
